Guest guest
OM Pranam Western media continuously depicts the culture and traditions of aryavrata in a poor light. Somehow even the most sacred traditions of India are disparaged and treated with condesension. Seems pretty easy to skip the fact that millions of devout and semi believing human beings are gathering together in harmony, for a common purpose, without causing any obvious disturbance - this simple fact is a rarity these days, what then to say of the unification in thought and conciousness of 70 million jivas across boundaries of Colour, Caste, ethnicity and beliefs. A common man, a scoundrel, a Saint, a Politician, an illiterate, everyone has united her and his conciousness with that of the Purity and Auspiciousness and Catholicism that is Mother Ganga. Perhaps it is fear in the minds of this select media, perhaps it is also a trick of the their mind to continue to delude itself, because it is very difficult to accept faith and culture, when it goes hand and hand with poverty and corruption. Pranam OM British TV channel condemned for making much of naked Nagas http://in.news./010113/57/h2u7.html LEADERS of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), the Bajrang Dal, the Shiv Sena and the Hindu Jagran Manch lashed out at a British television channel for projecting the Maha Kumbh in bad light. The Uttar Pradesh unit of the VHP criticised the channel for showing naked Nagas performing acts of penance on the Sangam banks in Allahabad. He said that the Maha Kumbh was being celebrated for thousands of years much before the dawn of Christianity and to denigrate the sadhus and saints is to hurt the religious sensibilities of millions of Indians. Saffron organisations have decided to urge the Government of India to lodge its formal protest through diplomatic channels. They will also take out processions condemning the British TV channel’s "biased" and "malicious" coverage. Many saints and yoginis have reportedly been shown smoking ganja. The focus of the channel is on bizarre practices like a saint pulling a car by a string attached to his penis or tantriks indulging in esoteric practices or black magic. Hinduism is not all about smoking ganja, he said. The channel’s footage exhibits some sadhus saying that ganja is a religious offering. The Hindu Jagran Manch also condemned a section of the British and western media for not explaining the significance of the Maha Kumbh but projecting minor practices as mainstream Hinduism.
