Guest guest
Shri Murtygaru (chief administrator/moderator), I had given a short note of self introduction which was posted to the group. I would also like to know the background of some members of the group. Will it be available in the archives or elsewhere ? Can you help me to get to know them ? Regards V.M.Sundaram

The answer to that is negative (as far as I know) as there is no specific place. While it is a requirement that members soon after joining the List introduce themselves (a short paragraph about the background in vyavahArika relevant to our discussions), all members did not put in that paragraph. The List administrators did not insist rigorously that introductions be placed on record. So much so, I cannot answer in affirmative that the List has introductions of all members available. Further, when the List was started slightly more than two years ago, the five or six who started the List knew each other from other Lists and their introductions were probably not available either, on this List. Even the search through the archives for even the handful of introductions available is a major task as the author search is no longer available at the eScribe archives ( or its predecessor never had an author search avaialable). This leads us to how to tackle shri Sundaramji's very legitamate question. I think the best way may be to go round the Table and introduce ourselves with a very brief paragraph. I would request each member before they post the next article (or latest in the next few days) to send a brief paragraph saying something about themselves. May be, some senior members of the List like shri Ram Chandran may have other suggestions. At the absolute, all of us are the same. In vyavahArika, at the discussion stages, it would be useful to know from what background the other person is speaking. So, please put in a brief paragraph saying something about yourself. I will put my introduction in the next post. Thanks very much for the understanding. p.s. Please keep the subject matter: member introduction (and member name) so that they all can be tagged electronically at some stage. Guest guest
Namaste: In addition to the excellent suggestion of Sri Gummuluru, let me add this additional request. I suggest members to send a copy of theri brief paragraph of introduction to Sri Madhava (email address: madhava) who will be more than happy to able to add a new File folder, 'MemberIntroduction' where everyone will be able to read a brief background information on all members. I volunteer to help Sri Madhava if he needs help to implement this on the Advaitin List File Folder at .com. Members are more than welcome to send a digital photograph if they so desire. We already have a Folder with photographs of several members. This is great opportunity to know about each other and let us take advantage of it immediately! regards, Ram Chandran advaitin, Gummuluru Murthy <gmurthy@m...> wrote: > This leads us to how to tackle shri Sundaramji's very legitamate > question. Guest guest
Harih Om! Please send your introduction with a subject line: "MY INTRODUCTION". This will help my email client to automatically gather all the introductions. We will create a database of our members along with their photographs. I would suggest that you restrict your introduction to your philosophical background and a little of your professional background. Please do not send your date-of-birth, your home address or any of your private information. As this will give a chance to unsolicited mailers to bother you with their Spam mail. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation. I remain yours, Madhava > > Ram Chandran [rchandran] > Tuesday, February 13, 2001 5:51 PM > advaitin > Re: members' background > > > Namaste: > > In addition to the excellent suggestion of Sri Gummuluru, let me > add this additional request.
