Guest guest
Thursday,Feb 15th Hari OM. I am P.B.V.Rajan. I am living in the same city (Jeddah) as Madhav, one of the moderators. My interest in Advaitin started only after I met him 3 years back. His scholarship of all the Hindu texts in their original form and his ability to translate them to me in English has helped to comprehend the spiritual component of Hinduism much better. When we meet we have some discussions on the subject. Meeting Madhav and learning from him has been the best thing that happened to me in Jeddah. As an Engineer+ MBA and a private business executive in Gulf for the past 20 years, my interest in the religion was more on the cultural aspects. Although I used to attend satsangs, they were more to reinforce the identification to ones background (Tamil Iyengar from Kanchipuram etc), more than a wake up call to the soul. My present interest, which is more genuine, has helped me to read more on the subject. I am now finalizing a draft (after several revisions) of Explaining Hinduism in 2,000 words (4 A/4 pages) to be sent to my 2 daughters to begin with and if it works in communicating it correctly, hopefully to a larger group of young people. This is because I observe that several aspects of Hinduism are confusing in practice and even conflicting. Youth have no time or inclination to dig into spiritual matters, so we have to reach out in simple and short communications. I am a frequent contributor to "Letters to Editor" column in Saudi English language newspapers, wherein I have more than 100 letters published in year 2000. So I plan to write in such short format communications style about various Hindu religious subjects to the Hindu Youth. I find that they should be the first target audience to be converted back to Hinduism of the Spiritual thoughts. Even I was practicing only the Hindu cultural Life style. I want to make this my life mission. I was very fortunate to have met with Dr Sadananda during a brief Holiday in madras where my family lives now. I had the good fortune of meeting on few occasions Swamini Sarada priyananda. I have read her small A/5 size 96 pages book " Vedanta in everyday life" several times but still to grasp the meaning. I find the mail to be very heavy in terms of content and frequency in this list, so I restrict myself to reading as much as I could. I enjoy the scholarship displayed and learning from it. I am at least happy I could follow most of the discussion; before 3 years I would have wondered what religion they are talking about! With pranams to all P.B.V.Rajan (Prathivadhi Bayankaram Varadha Rajan) __________________ Get free email and a permanent address at http://www.netaddress.com/?N=
