Born in 1934 in a South Indian Smartha family,I am a

retired marketing manager. My wife and myself are

living in a quiet suburb of Chennai in India. Our three

children are all married and settled in the

U.S.,making it possible for us to visit them very

often at regular intervals.

I was initiated into Advaitic Philosophy by my

father, whose Guru was 'Babaji', lovingly called

'Narmade Har', a Brahmanishti who had refused to

accept the position of Shankaracharya of Sringeri Mutt

some time in the 1930s(I do not remember the correct

year)and opted to continuously do parikrama of the

Narmada river. He had no ashram of his own and preached

only when approached and ate what came his way.My late

father got his Diksha from Babaji by a mere TOUCH on

his shoulder by Babaji's palm.

I had the good fortune of spending a week with Babaji

along with my father when Babaji was teaching

Patanjali Yoga Sutras by the banks of the Narmada in

Barwaha at the foothills of Omkareshwar.

My father has left behind several volumes of

handwritten Tamil translations and his own thoughts

and commentaries in Tamil and English on important

Upanishad Mantras,Mandukya Karika, Ishtasidhi and

Brahmasutra Bhashya all of which are now being studied

and pursued by me.I hope to sort them out this time on

my return to Chennai and see if I can find a publisher

for the same.
