Teacher #15. Deer -

 

graamya/-giita.n na shruNuyaat yatiH vanacharaH kvachit.h .

shikheta hariNaat vaddhaat mR^igayoH giita/-mohitaat.h .. 17..

 

An ascetic, living in a forest, should never hear vulgar songs. He

should take this lesson from the deer, which attracted by the music

of the hunter gets snared. 17 .

 

nR^itya/-vaaditra/-giitaani jushhan graamyaaNi yoshhitaam.h .

aasaa.n kriiDanakaH vashyaH R^ishhyashR^i~NgaH mR^igii/-sutaH .. 18..

 

Enjoying the vulgar dance, instrumental music and songs of women,

Rishyashringa, born of a deer, became a plaything in the hands of

women. 18 .
