There may be other versions with minor variations. kastuuri tilakam lalaaTa phalake vakshhasthale kausthubham naasaagre navamouktikam ca karatale veNum kare kankaNam | sarvaange hari-candanam ca kalayan kaNThe ca muktaavali gopastree pariveshhTHito vijayate gopaala-cudaamaniH || The crest jewel of the cowherds (gopaala-cudaamaNiH) is glorious (vijayate), surrounded (pariveshhTHitaH) by cowherd maidens (gopa-stree). He is wearing (kalayan) the following things : 1. decorative mark ( tilaka) of deer musk ( kastuuri) on the forehead (lalaata phalake); 2. the kausthubha jewel on his chest (vakshha-sthale); 3. a fine pearl ornament (nava-mouktikam) dangling from the tip of his nose (naasa-agre); 4. a flute (veNu) in his palm (karatale) ; 5. bracelet (kankaNam) on his hand (kare) ; 6. sandal paste ( hari-candanam) all over his body (sarvaange) ; 7. on his neck (kaNTHe) a necklace of pearls (muktaavali). The last word should be gopaala-cudaamaNih typed wrongly as cudaamaniH. In the last line to satisfy the gaNas in the meter there should be an extra u in the word in cuuDaamaNih. Unless there is no distinction in sanskrit transliteration between the sounds of d in chandana and the one in cuuDaamaNih the letter d in cuuDaamaNi should be typed as D to give the proper sound.Atleast that is the way we distinguish in our telugu. The same D should be there in the word SaarduulavikriiDitam also. Lastly a doubt about the third line-- the last letter li has only one i even though it is a long sound (deergham) . Do we need to add another i there to make it clear or are we to assume it to be a deergham because of some special rule in that language ? I realize this list has nothing to do with chandas ,but since an opportunity arose I thought I would ask the question and find out the answer. I used to enjoy your philosophical thoughts spilled through your poetry. You are right about the typos and and dhiirgam in the last letter of the third line to give guru. da and Da are different, I am, for sure and Shree sundaramji from his introduction, are getting old to remeber the transiliteration schemes - I donot know how Shree sunder manages these. But still this poem is attributed to Srinatha by some scholars.
