Guest guest
MY INTRODUCTION My intrest in philosophy comes mainly from reading. The books of Freiderich Nietzche attracted me to the notion of God. Also I became in trested in writing, poetry and music, as well as the importance of N ietzche in the whole scheme of philosophy. Almost simultaneously the Indian culture attracted me especially Classical music. Further on I read yoga books and a book on KRSNA con sciousnes. As for philosophy, the themes of being, coincidence, causality, l ogic and others interested me. Another philosopher who was important for me was Camus. Extistentialism was a point of comparison for me and it became an important consideration for me in terms of the definition of truth. I also read Heidegger and about his influence. From the point of view of being Santayana was different to Camus and was related to In dian philosophy. The existentialist point of view took me to notions about time an d being, so budhist thought was related to this matter. The subject of consciousnes and existence and the relation of them to time and person ality became of intrest to me. Right there I was comparing the trascen dantal and timless to the notion of the instant. I've done other readings in philosophy complementing the history of western philosophy and several lines of though. Althoughs I have not read every philosopher, I have read a bit to know about the different schools and time periods. Japanese exitensialism caught my attention so that I could further relate the notions of philosophy to religion. After completing my studies in Geography, I started mixing aspects of nationality, cultures and language to my past readings. Actually I have a growing intrest in Indian philosophy; the difusion of budhism from India intrests me. I have read matters regarding mantrams, tibetan budhism and mantrams and the worshiping of God through the pronounciation of his name (laya yoga). Also philosophers influenced by Indian though intrest me and the relation it has with health, because I'm vegetarian. I became acquain ted with Vedic culture through, not only, the practice of yoga, but through reading the Ayur Veda and other Indian Materia Medica. I also read about local cultures and worship in India. Recently I read Chandogya Upanishads. When I have time I'm thin king of further reading. I'm also intrested in Taoism, Jainism, Budhism, japanese culture, chinese culture, asian temples, asian cul ture and astrology. I am working on my MA related to religion and culture, from an an thropological perspective. ztierra
