The need of the hour, all over the world, is peace since life and strife go hand in hand, at various levels. Anger is the common factor which disturbs this harmony. If desires of a person are not fulfilled, he gets angry and he will come to hate those who, he feels are preventing him from possessing the object he wants. But if he manages to obtain it, he will be happy. After some time, he will not display the same amount of attachment and hence desires will start proliferating. Peace, however, cannot be dropped from above, nor by a proclamation by the head of a nation commanding that it should be enjoyed by everyone. Peace is within each one of us and it has to be experienced individually. The society will then be prosperous and this will make the country a fine place. The lives of saints demonstrate how they had enjoyed peace by avoiding the craze for possessions and by dropping attachment. A king, in his eagerness to expand the boundaries of his land, conquered other places but when he fell sick and was aware of his death he regretted his past actions and instructed his men to lay him in the coffin, his body covered but his feet and hands stretched out, to let all know that he came with nothing and was leaving empty handed. That peace exists within us and that we need not search for it outside can be illustrated through the special species of deer which stores the fragrant musk in its body but yet it darts about throughout the forest in quest of this powerful scent. Divinity is in us and we should take steps to realise it and exploit it by using the various facilities which God has given. In his lecture, Sant Rajinder Singhji explained how barriers have come to be erected amongst us. Each religion recognises the soul as part of the Creator and that the aim of human birth is to merge it back with the cosmic soul. All religions teach us the same method of re-uniting the two, through ``love.'' When an individual shows this love of God, it will intensify and he will start embracing all human beings. If a neighbour borrows a cup of sugar, the stock in our house will deplete. But the reservoir of Divine grace will never go down. For human unity to be a reality, we need to transcend the outer differences of our religions and find out the common core of each. The love we extend to others will return to us hundredfold. Love alone will satisfy the cravings of our mind, which will then be filled with peace and Bliss. The way to realise our oneness at the level of the soul is through a process of meditation. There are various techniques in this but essentially we have to still the mind. It can be practised by anyone of any country, religion, age or social status.
