Guest guest
I have set up a webpage on Sri Sudarsana Suri, the famous Sri Vaishnava commentator on the Sri Bhashya of Ramanujacharya. Suggestions/ Corrections are welcome. The URL is http://www.voi.org/vishal_agarwal/sudarsanasuri.html Sincerely, Vishal Agarwal
Guest guest
Thanks for that page- I was piqued by a line there - that Sudarsana suri is from the "Harita" lineage. My family gotram is Harita gotram and wonder if that means the same. Does any one know if there are sites that give good accounts of lineages, Gotrams etc. I hear there is one site on the aggarwals or agrawals but have not visited it yet. Thanks geetha - <vishalagarwal <advaitin> Friday, February 23, 2001 1:46 AM Sudarsanasuri: Webpage announcement > I have set up a webpage on Sri Sudarsana Suri, the famous Sri > Vaishnava commentator on the Sri Bhashya of Ramanujacharya. > Suggestions/ Corrections are welcome. Guest guest
Namaste Nirbahay and Geetha: The Iyer Heritage Foundation Site contains lots of information on Gothra and they have also conducted a survey to find out the distribution of Gothras. Website: http://home.earthlink.net/~ravi/gotra.html The information is quite interesting for those who want to know more about their family heritage and its implications. Many families (including mine) have the tradition of introduction that consists of Kulam (family details), Gotram (lineage) and Shetram or Pooviham (city or town of the family origin) For example, our Kulam is Smartha, Gotram is Sankriti and Shetram is Angarai of Thiruchi District of Tamilnadu, India. The tradition also includes Brahmacharis (those who have been formally initiated with Gayathri Manthra with Upanayanam - Thread Cermony) to introduce themeselves to elders with abipatheye. I have a Tamil Book with the title, "Rishis and Gothrams" published by Little Flower Company, Madras. This book is blessed by the organizations belonging to all the three acharyas (Shankara Matt, Ramanujar and Madhava). regards, Ram Chandran Nirbhay and Geetha wrote: > My family gotram is Harita gotram and wonder if > that means the same. Guest guest
Harita and Haritasa have got triyarshEyaM and PancArshEyam. In triyarsheyam you have got three rishis, through whom the gotram is identified --- "Harita, Ambarisha and YavanASwa". Same is the case with Harita belong to pancArshEyam. I do know a printed book available on the lineages, how ever I don't know about internet links. > > Nirbhay and Geetha [nkgb] > Friday, February 23, 2001 3:50 PM > advaitin > Re: Sudarsanasuri: Webpage announcement > > > Thanks for that page- I was piqued by a line there - that > Sudarsana suri is > from the "Harita" lineage.
