Guest guest
Dearest brothers and sisters, when I read a lecture of Swami Sivananda dealing with japa-yoga, I stumbled over the word "purascarana", for which I couldn´t find an explanation. Could one of my scholarly brothers and sisters translate and explain this word to me, please. The only thing, I could find out was, that it is used in the hari-bhakti-vilasa. What kind of scripture is this and who wrote it ? Plesa excuse my transcription of the sanscrit word; I´m not used to the way, you write the sanskrit-words in the advaitin-list. Sorry :-) !!! The hari-bhakti-vilasa is a reference to all those who love Hari (Hari Bhaktas). Those who love Hari dearly constantly chants His name and a good example is the Hare-Krishna worshippers! regards, Ram Chandran > Dearest brothers and sisters, > > when I read a lecture of Swami Sivananda dealing with japa-yoga, I stumbled > over the word "purascarana", for which I couldn´t find an explanation. Guest guest
Dear Michael: Yes, you are right and it is from Tantric tradition. More than that, it emphasizes shraddha (faith and devotion) and all tantric rituals should aim to better the humanity and have been forbidden not to do harm to others. This is one of the reason, these tantric tradition was not open to everyone because miscreants may exploit for selfish goals. regards, Ram Chandran advaitin, Gautamrita@a... wrote: > Dear Ram Chandran, > > thanks a lot for your answer and the link.
