Guest guest
Hari Om! How is a dream defined, scientifically and spiritually? Also what difference does it make if a Jnani dreams or not! He/She is a Jnani upon waking up! I don't mean to criticise the topic but, sincerely attempting to fathom its utility for a spiritual seeker. How am I gonna be benefited spiritually by knowing this info about whether a Jnani dreams or not! With regards -Srinivas
Guest guest
Dear Srinivas, Namaste. Yours is a valid point. After the thread became a serious discussion, I wondered too about the same as to how does it matter whether a Jnani dreams or not. Frankly, this was not the intent of my original post when I first started typing in the post. I found two aspects Part-1 and Part-2 of my very first post, which I found interesting to corelate. That is all. It so happened that subsequent events made it spiritually educative. I still have not understood Shree Anand's previous post even after reading a few times and I suspect the post has spiritual jewels obscured inside. Shree Sunder in one of his posts mentioned about various types of dreams and how one may benefit spiritually from dreams. However, the feeling behind your point is well taken. I think it is a good idea to either call off this thread or rename it with a different name more appropriate to subsequent discussions. Guest guest
My intention was not to argue upon whether someone has dreams or not. Mu sole purpose was extrapolate on the play of tendencies (Vasanas). Everything we perceive is due to our tendencies. Hence I thought(my vasanas made me think so) it was a valid discussion. Anyway, I end it here. ---- Get email at your own domain with Mail. http://personal.mail./
Guest guest
Namaste, To know a 'j~naanii' one has to become one; but intellectual speculations are not totally without value. In the process itself, one is forced to explore the meanings behind the upanishadic statements. In fact, many of the upanishad mantras are meant for 'upaasanaa' or meditation, and are also called 'vidya'-s. Swami Brahmananda has collected 101 such vidyas in his book of the same name [published by Divine Life Society, Rishikesh, 1990]. The meditation on the four states of awareness, including dreaming, is one of them. The particular vidya may not be suitable for everyone, and that is where a Guru's guidance becomes valuable. Knowing that such diverse meditations are available for differing temperaments and aptitudes is in itself a useful lesson. Guest guest
:-) I dream, but I am neither a Jnani nor an Agnani. Agnani should be ignorant, but surprisingly he dreams about the known world! Where as Jnani is supposed to have known everything but again surprisingly --- Jnani dereams about the unknown world. Soul dreams - individually - He is taijasa Collectively connected - hiranyagarbha also dreams, but the taijasa sometimes becomes hiranyagarbha himself, loosing his individuality all together... There the Taijasa dreams what the world is dreaming.... There the taijasa dreams what the world is about to dream... Sorry that you had to end abruptly :-( One important thing I came to know from the last few posts: - play of senses among themselves producing dreams, though they do not produce impacts on a Jnani and the fact that Jnanam is independant. This leads to the explanantion of why one may have dreams eventhough desires are absent. Further, it is not senses and desires alone, but, we have prophetic, spiritual and external-factors-related dreams as well. Further, this also leads to a better appreciation of playing of senses among themselves in the waking state. Wishing you Sweet Dreams :-) With Love, Raghava
