Its basic tenet is " Truth is one; it is spoken of in many ways" (ekam sat, vipraa bahudaa vadanti). A number of doctrines dealing with the relationship between the individual being and God have been developed. Dvaita (dualism) considers jiva as the creature and God as the creator ; and, as such , separate from one another. Vishishhta-advaita ( qualified non-dualism) accepts God as the whole and jiva as a part if His being. Advaita (non-dualism) regards jiva as identical with God in the ultimate analysis. All the doctrines are derived from the same scriptures viz. Veda and Vedanta ( aka Upanishhads). Thus they all fall under the broad umbrella of what is called Hinduism, V.M.Sundaram > > > > Discussion of Shankara's Advaita Vedanta Philosophy of nonseparablity of Atman and Brahman. > Advaitin List Archives available at: http://www.eScribe.com/culture/advaitin/ > Please Note the New Changes at the Mail Server > For details, visit: /local/news.html > Post message: advaitin > Subscribe: advaitin- > Un: advaitin > URL to Advaitin: advaitin > File folder: advaitin > Link Folder: advaitin/links > Messages Folder: advaitin/messages > > > > Your use of is subject to
