Namaste.

A few words learnt well and made part of oneself is better than

reading innumerable number of words which one doesn't comprehend.

[swami Vivekananda said something like that].

Hence, it is now thought that each of the sootra will be further

elaborated.

We have commentaries from Shree Chinmaya mission's version

of 'naarada bhakti sootra' and others.

Hence, only about 5-7 verses will be covered in 15days.

The verses will be posted initially to start off the thinking

processes.

Everyone is welcome to come forward to explain a verse or part of it

or anything related.

I will try to fill up the gaps, as far as I can.

I thank everyone for the encouragement provided for this task, both

in the list and privately.

With Love and regards,

Raghava

Selections from Narada Bhakti Sutra:-

Now, therefore, we shall expound the doctrine of Divine Love.

1:1

And in its own intrinsic nature, Divine Love is nothing less than

the immortal bliss of freedom (Mukti) itself, which comes

unsolicited by the grace of God and by self-sacrifice. [1:3]

Gaining that, a person realizes perfection and divinity and

becomes thoroughly contented. [1:4]

Attaining that, a person has no more desire for anything;

(s)he is free from grief and hatred; (s)he does not rejoice

over anything; (s)he does not exert herself(himself) in

furtherance of self-interest. [1:5]

Realizing that, a person becomes intoxicated and fascinated,

as it were, because (s)he is completely immersed in the

enjoyment of the Bliss of the Atman, the truest and highest self.

[1:6]

Bhakti (described previously as Paramaprema or Supreme Love)

is not of the nature of lust, being of the form of renunciation. [1:7]

Raghava
