Inimitable traits of a messenger

CHENNAI, APRIL 2. On certain occasions, plans, well-conceived

with good intentions, may come across obstacles, at the stage of

their execution, thereby causing anxious moments for one who is

eager to achieve success. Such impediments may be caused by

Divine forces so as to test the person's sincerity and capacity.

It may also be raised by some well-wishers and relatives who in

their anxiety, may delay the scheme's quick implementation. The

obstruction by Divine and human agencies may annoy the concerned

man but prayers to God to remove these hurdles and grant

permission to succeed in the ventures will surely fetch

favourable response.

During such baffling situations what one should develop are the

qualities of exemplary courage, farsightedness, tact,

resourcefulness, strength, practical wisdom and intellectual

alertness. To those who are really friendly and genuine, request

may be made not to delay the completion of the task. To those who

act as stumbling blocks, one's strength should be displayed. In

the character of Anjaneya, in the Ramayana, one can find how he

demonstrated all these inimitable traits and embarked on his

mission to spot out Sita. The role of an intermediary in bringing

about the reunion of the Divine Couple separated temporarily by

the forces of evil refers to the message of hope and redemption

to the souls, through the help of Divine guides.

In his discourse, Sri T. K. V.Raghavan said Anjaneya, endowed

with great strength and powerful intellect and inspired by a

noble purpose, undertook the extremely difficult task undeterred

by obstacles, sprang into the sky setting out on the path of

celestials to discover the whereabouts of Sita, whom Ravana had

carried away. With a view to making him rest for a while and

refresh himself, the Sun-god made the mountain called Mainaka to

invite him and accept his hospitality. It was a friendly gesture

but Anjaneya told him about his pledge not to stop till his

mission is completed. The next obstruction arose from an ogress

when Anjaneya shrank to a very small size and frisked in and out

of her mouth and emerged unscathed. This was a plan by celestials

to test his presence of mind and alertness. The next adventure

was to avoid being caught by another demoness when he ripped open

her body and escaped safe. Thus he liquidated a series of

problems by his powers and through Divine mercy. An aspirant

engaged in spiritual quest should develop the capacity to cross

the ocean of life, and proceed with the tough exercises with

unabated zeal.
