Guest guest
hariH OM! there is much misunderstanding here. sri ram questioned ramakrishna's remarks about women. actually he spoke of the wrong attitude in relation to women, and not women themselves. quite the contrary, his ishta devata was the archetypal female deity, kali-ma. he also worshipped his wife, sarada devi, as the very embodiment of kali. not in imitation, but as the result of a natural and existential condition, i also worship, adore and love my wife erica (leeladurga) as the embodiment of kali. moreover, we are so perfectly and intimately aligned, that the totality of my posts in the past have included approx 20% of her ideas/insights. i have no reservations here since [we both believe] we are somehow a soul that split many incarnations ago (within the vyavaharika), and therefore what expresses itself through either of us is the selfsame dynamic transmitting through our antahkarana [of the the atma-buddhi-manas].. finally--and this may appall some members, but the jivatman is androgenous, and therefore reincarnates alternately as male and female, to get the whole spectrum of the human experience. in fact, this is really metaphysics 101. namaste Get email at your own domain with Mail. http://personal.mail./
Guest guest
Actually I am more than happy to accept that all saints (including Ramakrishna) referred to the wrong attitude towards women and were never spoke derogatorily about women. I cannot believe they would do that. My question was WHY have they used the word "Women" and not "Lust" or some other word that more accurately conveyed what they intended. > > f maiello [sMTP:egodust] > Monday, April 09, 2001 10:50 AM > advaitin > Cc: parallelrealm > the role of women > > hariH OM! > > there is much misunderstanding here. > > sri ram questioned ramakrishna's remarks about > women. actually he spoke of the wrong attitude > in relation to women, and not women themselves. > quite the contrary, his ishta devata was the > archetypal female deity, kali-ma. he also > worshipped his wife, sarada devi, as the very > embodiment of kali. > > not in imitation, but as the result of a natural > and existential condition, i also worship, adore and > love my wife erica (leeladurga) as the embodiment of > kali. moreover, we are so perfectly > and intimately aligned, that the totality of my posts > in the past have included approx 20% of her > ideas/insights. i have no reservations here since [we > both believe] we are somehow a soul that split many > incarnations ago (within the vyavaharika), and > therefore what expresses itself through either of us > is the selfsame dynamic transmitting through our > antahkarana [of the the atma-buddhi-manas].. > > finally--and this may appall some members, but the > jivatman is androgenous, and therefore reincarnates > alternately as male and female, to get the whole > spectrum of the human experience. in fact, this is > really metaphysics 101. > > namaste > > > > > > Get email at your own domain with Mail. > http://personal.mail./ > > Discussion of Shankara's Advaita Vedanta Philosophy of nonseparablity of > Atman and Brahman. > Advaitin List Archives available at: > http://www.eScribe.com/culture/advaitin/ > Please Note the New Changes at the Mail Server > For details, visit: /local/news.html > Post message: advaitin > Subscribe: advaitin- > Un: advaitin > URL to Advaitin: advaitin > File folder: advaitin > Link Folder: advaitin/links > Messages Folder: advaitin/messages > > > > Your use of is subject to >
Guest guest
Namaste ji Actually Sri Ramakrishna used the words 'kama' and 'Kanchana', which were usually translated to be 'women' and 'wealth' for men, and 'men' and 'wealth' for women. So what he could have meant by Kama could also be translated as 'lust'. Just my thoughts. Kathi Thommandra, Rama K. Guest guest
Namaste, The 'bhaavaartha' of the two words, kaama and kaa~nchana, is indeed lust and greed, and not women and wealth. kaama[lust], krodha[anger], lobha[greed] are the three gates to naraka [hell] according to the Gita [XVI:21]. I guess we are conditioned by society quite irresponsibly to believe that sex is love. Even women in order to unite with God will have to work through misperceptions related to sex & unification. I have found learning about God, kind of like the Divine Romance which Yogananda mentioned. Each one of us is Cosmic Father & Cosmic Mother ~ both. These two energies act out every relative personification. Recently I read some work by Almaas, who is a Sufi & a psychologist who has developed the Diamond Approach. I found his words on the 'merging essence' interesting. I cannot express it very well, but he speaks of the initial unified relationship between mother & child which is bliss. Then explains how it splits off into separation from that awareness to live feeling split off from an awareness of unity. The spiritual journey then may be spoken of as the 'child' (or inner child's) search for the merging essence. (I call it the Holy Spirit.) Transpersonal psychologists know that anyone seeking to merge into Godhead will have to unite their opposites & work out any issues related to mother & father (the core masculine & feminine archetypes). All sorts of weird whacky & wonderful expressions get acted out by those seeking to merge back to unity (Self). The best way is to transcend through meditation I believe. Sex will not achieve it. Though sex is thought of as uniting, without love it is not. Those not aware of where we are all one will project conditional love into relationship (even with the self). Conditions limit what Is. I see the term 'women' as used above as objectifying, or object referral. Women are not objects. Thinking of others as objects is being quite unaware of the merging essence (or Self). Maharishi taught me that there is a difference between being Self referral & object referral. All is the Self. :-) Jai Guru Dev, Col > > > > > > f maiello [sMTP:egodust] > > > > hariH OM! > > > > there is much misunderstanding here. > > > > sri ram questioned ramakrishna's remarks about > > women. actually he spoke of the wrong attitude > > in relation to women, and not women themselves. > > quite the contrary, his ishta devata was the > > archetypal female deity, kali-ma. he also > > worshipped his wife, sarada devi, as the very > > embodiment of kali. > > > > not in imitation, but as the result of a natural > > and existential condition, i also worship, adore and > > love my wife erica (leeladurga) as the embodiment of > > kali. moreover, we are so perfectly > > and intimately aligned, that the totality of my posts > > in the past have included approx 20% of her > > ideas/insights. i have no reservations here since [we > > both believe] we are somehow a soul that split many > > incarnations ago (within the vyavaharika), and > > therefore what expresses itself through either of us > > is the selfsame dynamic transmitting through our > > antahkarana [of the the atma-buddhi-manas].. > > > > finally--and this may appall some members, but the > > jivatman is androgenous, and therefore reincarnates > > alternately as male and female, to get the whole > > spectrum of the human experience. in fact, this is > > really metaphysics 101. > > > > namaste
