namaste.

shri Madhava Turumella brought to our notice his sad experience

of seeing that two of his revered teachers have discarded their

physical bodies during the past year.

When shri ramaNa maharShi was at a stage of discarding His

physical body, his devotees all requested him not to. His

reply was "Where can I go? I am always here and I will always

be here". These sarvajnA-s know they will always be here.

Discarding physical body is like throwing out an old shirt

and putting on a new one.

Moreover, they were in that physical body for a purpose:

to educate us mortals, to help us cross the ocean of saMsAra

(as shri shankara describes so beautifully in vivekacUDAmaNi).

When their work is over, they discard the physical body. But

their essence will always be with us, the disciples. Sometimes,

I prefer the western way of looking at so-called 'death' -

to celebrate the life rather than mourn the passing away.

The role of the disciples is quite clear. Let the teachings

of the revered teachers be communicated to the next generation

so that the efforts of the revered teachers are not in vain.

If we can do that, we have done our duty responsibly and wisely.

Namaste,

Let me join Sri Gummuluru and request Sri Madhava to read the Gita

Verse (Chapter 2, verse 20) once again:

na jAyate mriyate vA kadAcin

nA 'yam bhuutva bhavitA vA na Bhuuyah

ajo nityah sAsvato 'yam purAno

na hanyate hanyamAne sarire

He is never born, nor doe he die at any time, nor having (once) come

to be will be again cease to be. He is unborn, eternal, permanent and

primeval. He is not slain when the body is slain. (Translation by Sri

Radhakrishnan).

The famous Sanskrit Sloka: 'Matha Pitha Guru Deivam'(Parents and the

Teacher are the Divine in the visual form) further emphasizes that the

Guru is the Divine in human form.

Om Shanthih! Om Shanthih! Om Shanthih!
