A third coomon mistake in interpreting the first

chapter is to criticize Arjuna's concern for the kith

and kin,uncles,grandfathers,sons and grandsons as---

"attachment".Many interpretations take pride in

condemning such attachment.Spouses were encouraged not

to have attachment for spouses, parents were told not

to have attachment for their own children and so on

thus encouraging cutting of bonds and running away

from families and responsibilities in the name of

vairagya or sannyasa..This is completely against Hindu

Dharma.To think--this is my,repeat my,- son,my

daughter,my relative is certainly mamakara and is

attachment. It may lead to child beating, spousal abuse

in one extreme or--too much attachment and pampering

on the other extreme. But to love and cherish all

family members as God given gifts and see God in

their faces and in every one of them is real

vairagya. The love of one's God given family meembers

can be the seed that expands into love of the Universe

or Viswa Prema.Arjuna exactly felt this in the first

chapter of Geetha. To say- I donot care for my family

but I have viswa prema(Love for All)is

hypocracy.Husband must see Goddess in the wife.Wife

must see God in the husband.Parents must see Sri

Krishna in children.Slowly learn to expand that love

into loving friends, neighbours and all with Divine

Bhava.
