" It is all Brahman" is the knowledge - if that is really understood not "as a thought" but "as a fact", then there is no question of disagreements either -since all agreements and disagreements are resolved into Brahman itself! Inquiry into the nature of Brahman is an advice, atha ataH brahma jij~naasa (I should not call it as an advice since it is vidhi or suutra says one should inquire, should being underlined!) to the one who has not understood that "all is Brahman" as a fact! To do that inquiry the mind must be available - since it very subtle inquiry into the nature of inquirer itself it should be free from agitations and disturbances which themselves arises from the pressure of Vasana-s which are called impurities. Hence Shankara says in Atmabodha sadaa sarvagataH api aatma na sarvatraapi bhaasate bhuddhaaveva bhaaseta swacheshhu pratibimbavat| (Pl. check - typed from the fading memory due to the aging process!) Although the aatma (or Brahman) is all pervading it does not (reveal) itself everywhere. It shines through the buddhi or intellect when it pure like the mirror when it is free from dirt. Hence process or sadhana is essential for the ones who are not realized that "all is Brahman". When "all is Brahman" is realized as a fact then this discussion including the advitin list is of no value! A word of caution is in the statements like - everything is nothing but Brahman - is a pointer for an inquiry mind - which has notions of separateness and hence limitations. To see that clearly mind has to be purified - the four-fold qualifications that Shankara discusses as pre-requisites. Hari Om! Sadananda -- K.
