Guest guest
Long since a thought had been haunting me. We say that we should try for Nirvasana or Do Prarthana or use Purushakara etc. Again we venture to say all is His wish we humans are gross or jada since both Manas and Buddhi is also matter according to Sankha Yoga. I see a paradox: if we are gross then it is His wish that we think we pray or struggle, we dont He does. If it is so then why do we try at all He will do his deed I fall back and watch. May I invite all those who can to comment on this to respond. The question is really worth it I think, the basic question of why spirituality? Guest guest
Hari OM! Blessed Self, Yes, It is indeed an intelligent question, Seeker's like you should definitely have this kind of questions. Actually there is no Brahman and ME there is only Brahman, Me is the notion of the EGO. Whenever the EGO completely dies, then we are realised. Surrender Your Will completely to GOD, then there is no notions of "I" or mine. Then Everything "HE" wishes will take place. This is the significane of the flute in Lord Krishna Plays. The Flute is comptelely hollow. It allows to tune whichever way Lord Krishna wants. We should be hollow with out any notions in our mind to have complete surrender to HIM. Ego is separateness; non-belongingness. It is wanting to prove and to possess. And when you wake up and see, there is nothing to be proved and nothing to possess, ego dissolves. May God Bless YOU With Prem & OM! Krishna Prasad --- Arghya <arghyajyoti wrote: > Long since a thought had been haunting me. The objective of spiritual studies is to know oneself so that we recognize the fallacy of the question above "Brahman *or* ME?" and the introduction that preceeded the question. May I suggest that you contemplate on questions of the type Am I there apart from brahman? Is there a brahman apart from ME? Is there a ME apart from brahman? What is this ME? And what is this brahman? Studies on spirituality answers these questions, not only intellectually, but much more important spiritually (I hesitate to use the word experientially because there is no one to experience this) so that we ultimately know that Knowledge is the Knower. Guest guest
In the words of a Brahmanishti: The knowledge of 'I' cannot be through Budhi because whatever is through manaspandana, that being graahya, when grsped by Budhi becomes as gyaanam(Vyaavahaarika) but, this 'I' is not karyam of manaspndana but mana is always advaya to it.Therefore the knowledge of 'I' is abhinna to 'I'.The thing and the knowledge are not different in the case of 'I'and Brahman which is gyeya in all the Upanishadic Shastras is Ajam,Nityam and that is to be known by Mumukshu. One cannot know by mortal gyaana, the Immortal. Therefore Acharya says,'Ajena Ajam vibhudyate'That means Ajam Brahma is known only by |Aja Gyaana-Immortal Gyaana- and It is always non different from its Immortal Vastu-'I' and that is nothing else but Pure-'I' and by this Immortal knowledge Brahman is known and that is also Aja. Therefore Aja-Brahman is known by Aja-Gyaana and Aja-Gyaana is never different from its Object. That means-"I myself am Brahman"-and that Aja-Knowledge is Brahman-Knowledge which is non-different from Its Object. Thus,"Aham Brahmaasmi" is expredssed here. Hari Om! Swaminrayan --- Arghya <arghyajyoti wrote: > Long since a thought had been haunting me. Guest guest
Thank you for your advice but this is the theoritical part of why Brahman cannot be known. It is some what like the Kashmiri Shaivisim and excellently explains the reason of faliure of Buddhi to comprehend. I got stuck with it as from within buddhi and its search for Brahman. Anyway I came up with an answer (see my previous mail), what is your opinion about it. advaitin, Swaminarayan T <tvswaminarayan> wrote: > In the words of a Brahmanishti: > > The knowledge of 'I' cannot be through Budhi because > whatever is through manaspandana, that being > graahya, when grsped by Budhi becomes as > gyaanam(Vyaavahaarika) but, this 'I' is not karyam of > manaspndana but mana is always advaya to it.Therefore > the knowledge of 'I' is abhinna to 'I'.The thing and > the knowledge are not different in the case of 'I'and > Brahman which is gyeya in all the Upanishadic Shastras > is Ajam,Nityam and that is to be known by Mumukshu. > > One cannot know by mortal gyaana, the Immortal. > Therefore Acharya says,'Ajena Ajam vibhudyate'That > means Ajam Brahma is known only by |Aja > Gyaana-Immortal Gyaana- and It is always non different > from its Immortal Vastu-'I' and that is nothing else > but Pure-'I' and by this Immortal knowledge Brahman is > known and that is also Aja.
