I would like to inform VenkataNatha Ji that I have got Shankarananda's

commentary on some Upanishads. The book (the title is "dvaatrimshad

Upanishadaam Samuccayah") which I have, has been published by Ananda Ashram,

Pune in 1895.

In that book Shankarananda's commentary is available on Atharvashira,

Amritanada, Amritabindu, Aruneyi, Kaivalya, Kaushitaki, Garbha, Jabala,

Paramahamsa, Brahma and Hamsa Upanishads.

However, I would also like to tell him that Dr. S. Radhakrishnan's

translations of the Upanishads, is based on Shankarananda's, Narayana's and

Ramatirtha's commentaries. These are available in one book, which I have

mentioned above.

I fully agree with him that Shankarananda's commentary is one of the three

best commentaries on Gita. Our traditions tell us that Shankara's Bhashya is

for Sharavana (Hearing). Madhusudana's (the author of Advaita Siddhi)

commentary is for Manana (rational thinking) and Shankarananda's commentary

is for Nididhyasana (Meditation).

In this context I would also like to ask the scholars, if they have heard

about "VijnanaBhikshu's" (The author of Yoga Vartika on Yoga Darshana's

Vyasa Bhashya) commentary on the 10 principle Upanishads.

What is the best thing with him, he has tried to form a philosophy which

provides a common ground for Yoga and Vedanta, this is the most interesting

thing in it. Though not very much effective and it has also some basic

errors, his philosophy is a very interesting one. If any scholar in here

knows anything about its existing, I would be very glad to receive some

information.

Loving Regards,

Siddhartha Krishna
