Guest guest
Dear Sri G.Murthi Ji, Namaste I apologise and request your kind pardon for a grave mistake i have committed. Today, when i came to my native home town, i went through the commentary - Ratna Prabha on Brahma Sutra Bhashya of Bhagavan Sri Shankaracharya. At Br.Su.II - iii - 16 Charachara Sutra, the commentator clearly explains that - to hold that birth and death pertain to Jiva is only in a secondary sense and it primarily applies only to the body. My logical development quoting Br. su. 1-1-4 was not incorrect, however i have made a mistake in the final step. I have rightly traced Br.Up.that birth and death means entry and exit from and out of the body. However, the climax was blundered. From the above proposition, it follows that by the Anvaya Vyatireka Nyaya of enquiry, birth and death are conditions of the body and not the Jiva. Acharya Very Specifically mentions this at the close of the Adhikarana. Very kindly excuse my blunder. Sorry. S. While your first post (on this topic) might have come up with the wrong conclusion, that in no way diminishes the value of these posts. This is a learning process for all of us and the purpose of the List discussions is to see that our understandings are correct. With mutual pointings to the proper path, we will hopefully have the correct understanding of the bhAShyA-s. This is particularly important in these days when a proper physical guru is very hard to get. Thanks again for your very valuable posts and I look forward to more insights.
