Guest guest
The importance of Surrender by Sri Aurobindo All can be done by the Divine, -- - the heart and nature purified - the inner consciousness awakened - the veils removed ,if one gives oneself to the Divine with trust and confidence and even if one cannot do so fully at once, yet the more one does so, the more the inner help and guidance come and the experience of the Divine grows within. If the questioning mind becomes less active and humility and the will to surrender grow, this ought to be perfectly possible. No other strength and tapasya are then needed, but this alone. - From Sri Aurobindo's 'Surrender and Grace'
Guest guest
VishishhTaadvaita emphasizes the surrenderance aspect as the essence of the teaching of B.G - It is called prapaatti or sharaNaagati. Vedanta Deshika has provided Nyaasadashakam, describing what it involves. >From adviata point surrenderance occurs only once, that is in the awakening of the knowledge I surrender all my notions that I am 'this' and leave with knowledge I am that I am. Here are my subsequent thoughts. While one may agree from the Advaitic viewpoint of one-time-surrender only, yet, practically it is not feasible for a sAdhaka. It is because, say, at this very moment a sAdhaka did not yet see the one- time 'surrender' taking place, which is true for many sAdhakas. What does this lead him/het to ? Should (s)he not do something to make it happen ? This is the gradual willful surrender that was being referred to earlier. True, until such time one is trying to surrender. However, rethinking, as one proceeds, perhaps the difference between them does not matter ? With Love, Raghava
