Guest guest
Namaste Sri Abdel: Srimad Bhagavatam is available in electronic form in the internet and the information is provided below. Website Source: http://www.srimadbhagavatam.org/introduction.html regards, Ram Chandran Here is the Introductory Paragraph from the above Site: ================================================== Srimad Bhagavatam by Anand Aadhar Prabhu Introduction " This book relates the story of the Lord and His Incarnations since the earliest records of the vedic history. It is verily the Krishna-Bible of the Hindu-universe. The Bhâgavad Gîta compares to it like the sermon on the mountain by Lord Jesus to the full Bible. It has 18.000 verses and consists of 12 books also called canto's. These books tell the complete history of the vedic culture with the essence of all its classical stories called purâna's and includes the cream of the vedic knowledge compiled from all the literatures as well as the story of the life of Lord Krishna in full (canto 10). It tells about His birth, His youth, all His wonderful proofs of His divine nature and the superhuman feats of defeating all kind of demons up to the great Mahabharat war at Kuruksetra. It is a brilliant story that has been brought to the West by Swami Bhaktivedânta Prabhupâda, a CaitanyaVaishnava, a bhakti (devotional) monk of Lord Vishnu [the name for the transcendental form of Lord Krishna] who undertook the daring task of enlightening the materialist westerners as well as the advanced philosophers and theologians, in order to help them to overcome the perils and loneliness of impersonalism and the philosophy of emptiness." Thanks for your help. > >Hari Hari Hari Bol!!! >bhaskar > Shree Bhaskar, Bhagavatam is mostly centered on His story, He being NarayaNa, the personified form of the parabrahma. The philosophical discussions are limited to here and there. For example, you can find the advaitic philosophy in the teachings of Bhagavaan Kapila to his mother and is called Kapilopadesha. Kapila is considered the incarnate of Lord NarayaNa. Uddhava Giita also has some aspects of advaita where Lord teaches his friend/cousin Uddhava before he departs. Hari Om! Sadananda -- K. Guest guest
Hari Om Sri Bhasker: When we read Srimad Bhagavatam with the divine in our hearts, we can visualize the advaitic interpretation irrespective of the origin of the text. Srimad Bhagavatam will always remain the same story (history) irrespective of the authorship. The purpose of reading and listening to Bhagavatam is to purify our heart. Divinity is present when purity is present! When divinity is present, there can be no more duality!! regards, Ram Chandran Note: Swamiji Tejomayananda (Head of Chinmaya Mission) in his discourses (available in Video tapes) on Srimad Bhagavatam provides advaitic vision of Bhagavatam. The tapes are available at Chinmaya Publications at the internet: http://www.chinmayapublications.org/ Purification of mind and heart is faster when we listen to discourses conducted by saints with the purified heart and this may explain why discourses of Ramayana and Bhagavatam are quite popular in India. advaitin, bhaskar.yr@i... wrote: > Hare Krishna, > > Please let me know whether Srimad Bhagavatam with advaita Interpretation > available on net. Guest guest
Namaste, Sri Ramakrishna likened the Bhagavata to the Bengali sweet dessert dish 'Rasa-Golla'! How? The balls ['golla'] of Advaita were floating in the syrup [rasa] of Bhakti!!
