Guest guest
Dear friends, Dr. NS Anantha rangachar asked me the following questions yesterday: 1. lectures on Tattvamasi / and other mahavakyas can get very technical. Are the people in US really interested to hear in detail the different views of Samkaracharya Ramanujacharya and Madhvacharya? 2. If so he asked me to find out individually atleast 10-15 people who can sign up for such a telephone lecture. If I don’t get atleast 10-15 sign ups for “Mahavakyas Lectures” : a series of 2 - 4 lectures on the topic, I may have to cancel those lectures. Please let me know ASAP if you are interested to sign up for these lectures Regards, Krishna Kashyap
Guest guest
Krishna I am interested and I will post this note in Advaita-L also so that members in that list can also respond. Friends: For those who do not know, Shreeman Ananta Rangacharya is well known authority in Vedanta and many have studied under him. I was planning myself to learn at his feet some of the intricate arguments of Bhagavaan Ramanuja against Advaita. For any advaitin it is important to learn why the other achaarya-s have rejected advaita and if there have valid reasons for their rejection. This will help in establishing one own conviction what is right with advaita and also if there any fallacies in puurvapaksha-s arguments in the rejection of advaita. One should know what is right with the right and what is wrong with the wrong. As I mentioned in my Brahmasuutra notes, respecting all achaarya-s reflects ones culture, but accepting all aachaarya-s reflects a confused mind. But before one accepts or rejects, one should have clear understanding and conviction why that particular philosophy is right and not wrong. One of the obstacles for self-realization is the samshayam or doubts about the nature of the reality. Some of the doubts that one never thought of are indeed raised by other aacharya-s and if we are accepting the philosophy in spite of these doubts, we should have a through conviction beyond any trace of doubt. The path of advaita rests on inquiry of the nature of the reality. Shreeman Anata Rangachaary will be providing close examination of mahavakya-s which are back bone of the advaita philosophy. I encourage everyone to these lectures. Shreemaan Anata Ragachaarya is well known in Bangalore and has given routinely lectures on both adviata and vishishhTadvaita. I recently learned that he was a close friend of my father and at his instigation my father had composed many sloka-s on Lord Venkateswara. Hari Om!
