VAGDEVI NADAROOPINI SARASWATHI PAHIMAM PAHIMAM!

SANKARA DIGVIJAYAM JAGADGURU SANKARA DIGVIJAYAM

SRI SADGURU SWAMI CHINMAYANANDAJI KI JAI!

This VIVEKACHUDAMANI notes is submitted to the lotus feet of PARAM

POOJYA GURUDEV SWAMI CHINMAYANADAJI

Preface

Before studying any Sastras, we should know the real meaning and

inner meaning and the benefits of studying them. And also how the

learning transforms our life.

For a Scientist he works by the guidelines of theories & Practices

which are accepted by his predecessors, and looks for new scientific

theories and inventions

When we study Vedanta it is the philosophy of life, SRI ADI

SANKARACHARAYA has written commentaries for the Srimad Bhagwad

Geetha, Brahmasutras and Upanishads, and also for lot of other texts.

To give a deep insight of Vedanta SRI SANKARA BHAGAWAD PADA has given

every Sincere Seeker The Vivekchudamani.

To discriminate which is permanent and which is not permanent is the

main theme of Vivekchudamani, The name itself shows that it is the

Crest Jewel of Discrimination.

Whoever independently visualize the text he gets a deep insight of

Vedanta, without having great knowledge of upanishads a seeker can

perform Adhyatmic Sadhana.(Spriitual Practices)

There are Sadhaks(seekers) even though they are doing meditation and

japa for a very long time, they experience total Disappointment and

Sorrow, because they do not have the knowledge of Basic Priciples and

Proper guidance to perform Sadhana, The sincere study of

Vivekchudamani will help a lot to have the right kind of knowledge

and

discrimination.

The 1st sloka of Vivekchudamani starts with Guruvandanam.

Sarva Vedanta SiddhanTha GoCharam ThamagoCharam

GovinDam ParamaNandam SadGurum PranathoSmyaham.

Meaning:

Always dwelling in Real Happiness, and which can be completely

realized only through Vedanta Sadhana, above all cannot be known by

our Senses, Mind, Body Intellect etc.

That kind of Sachidananda Swaroopam, I Prostrate to that Sadguru

which is Sri Govindapada.

It is well known that the author of Mandookya Karika the famous Sri

Gowdapada's disciple Sri Govindapada is the Sadguru of Sri Adi

Sankaracharya.

One way this is the invocation & Prostration for the Sadguru of Sri

Bhagavadpada, and in another way this is the Prostration of a Jnani

to the Brahman!

"Aham" meaning The illuminator which is beyond BMI(Body,Mind,

Intellect)(Jeevatma, the inner personality of Sadhaka)tries to merge

with the Supreme Consciousness Brahman, As a result of Jivatma's

effort, he realizes that my real nature is Brahman(Bhagwan

Govinda!)only which can be known through all the upanishads, When the

Sadhaka continues his Seeking he realizes that he is Govinda only

none other than that. "TAT TWAM ASI" (That Thou Art).
