Namaste Sri Chandrasekaran:

Welcome to the list and we hope to see your active participation in

the list discussions. Please send an introductory paragraph

describing your background and interest to the list.

Here is my understanding: Brahman refers to the Paramatman and Atman

refers to the Jivatman. At Vyavahara level (understanding at the

relative level), Atman may appear different from Brahman. At the

Paramarthika level (understanding at the absolute level) they are

identical. I hope that this explanation clears your confusion.

Technically, the statement "nonseparablity of Atman and Brahman"

is equivalent to saying that Atman is one at the same as Brahman.

warmest regards,

Ram Chandran

Namaskaaram !

As is my habit, i quote from the web site at http://www.kamakoti.org/

..

In one of the chapters of "Deivatthin Kural", His Holiness Sri

Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Mahaswamiji, talks about the Atman and

the Brahman in His own special style. I quote the most relevant

sentence here. This is in a chapter that talks about "Sankhya". To

read the full text translation in English, please see

http://www.kamakoti.org/hindudharma/part12/chap6.htm

"...Prakrti, mahat, ahamkara, mind, the five jnanendriyas, the five

karmendriyas, the five tanmatras, the five mahabhutas- all these make

up the 24 tattvas.

These tattvas are accepted by non-dualistic Vedanta also. According to

it, it is Isvara (the Brahman with attributes) who unites Purusa (or

the Atman without attributes) with Prakrti or Maya.

...."

Thanks to this list, i am able to read and research many pages from

the site that i help to maintain! I have such a treasure with me, yet

i am not making full use of it! What an irony!

Best regards

Venkatesh
