>From Initiation to Illumination by Swami Ashokananda

But you see, there is knowledge and knowledge. There can be true

knowledge of a relative thing. Suppose we see a tree, we say that we

have true knowledge of a tree. Or say, a doctor makes the right

diagnosis of a case, then we may say, yes here is true knowledge

of the case. But I am not speaking about that kind of true knowledge.

I am speaking of the final knowledge, which will never be abrogated.

Only one knowledge gives final satisfaction, and that knowledge is

through at-onement with that which you are trying to know.

All other knowledge is doubtful; it can be replaced by different knowledge.

You see, therefore knowledge by reason or through the senses cannot be

final knowledge, however seemingly accurate it may appear.

True knowledge is where you find everything to be only the divine

Spirit and nothing else. When you have that knowledge, that is

enlightenment, that is illumination.

Commentary:

What a wonderful way of making the distinction

between relative and absolute knowledge!

Namaste,

Sri Ramakrishna used a striking metaphor to describe the process:

Seeking God is like climbing stairs to reach the treasure of gold on

the top of a building. When you find the treasure, you realise that

the steps you climbed were also made of gold!

Namaste!Some humble thoughts----

In the Ultimate Geetha,-Amritha or Uddhava

Geetha-,the Lord Sri Krishna says:

The Lord Created many beings, some with many feet, some

with four feet and some with two feet.Of all these

beings, the human heart is My favourite dwelling place.

In the Human body exists a path based upon

Inference(Anumaana) by following which, one can be

harmonized(yuktam) with Me,realizing that I am the

Cause (hetuh) of everything and the Lord and

Controller (Iswara) of all, although I cannot be

grasped by this Linga sareera composed of gunaas

(body,mind and intellect-BMI).

AsyaMam margayantodya,yuktaa hetubhi Ishwaram

Guhyamanai gunairlingai agraahyam anumaanayet

Look at every cell and every part of "your" body.Who

created it?Who is the cause--It is only the Lord!

Look at every thing inside you whom you call "me" and

every thing outside you --this womder of Universe--who

is the Cause?Who Created it?Who is the Controller of

every thing ?It is the Lord.

Hindu poojas usually include anga pooja, worship with

all humility and devotion after giving bath of each

Holy part of Lord's Body starting from Feet to the

Head after inviting the Lord for offering worship. It

is usually done visualizing the Lord in Human Form in

the Vigraham or Moorthy of Sri Krishna,Sri Rama or

Vishnu or Mother Lakshmi or whoever is one's favourite

Deity.Swami Sivananda used to convey that if one can

see the real Sanskrit meaning of "Krishna" (which

means ALL) one is actually worshipping the feet of all

beings as well as "your own",because you see Krishna

in all including your divine body which is Holy.Due to

the veil ignorance, the ego usurps this holy body and

says it is mine or me (deham) and therefore cannot

see every one's as well as "your" body as HIS and is

fit for worship when illumination dawns and makes us

realize all as Krishna, the Divine Wonder!
