The contents of Brahmasuutra:

Chapter I - Introduction

Chapter II - anumaana pramaaNa (Analysis of the role of logic in Vedanta)

Chapter III - adhyaasa bhaashyam of Shankara - analysis of the

fundamental error

Chapter IV - Brahmasuutras - These are discussed on the basis of

sections or adhikarana-s.. Here is the write-up on designation of

the notes provided at that time.

Notes Designation: While the Bhaashhyam is discussed under chapter IV

- to follow which suutra that we are discussing, from now on, we will

use the following designation - For example for sutra 1 we use the

designation as I-i-1-1. The first Roman number designates that it is

first of the four adhyaaya-s, the second lower case Roman number

designates that it is first paada of the adhyaaya, the third number

designates that it is the first adhikaraNa and last number designates

the suutra in that adhikaraNa. Since the suutra will be discussed in

more than one post, we will use the letter designations A ,B, C,

etc., to the suutra number for easy identification during

discussions. Following this notation this post is designated as

Notes BSB-I-i-1-1A).

-----------------

From now on I will also include in the notes the particular suutra

number without the chapters and sections to qualify. - thus Notes on

Suutra 7C would imply discussion pertains to the third post related

to suutra 7.

We are currently discussing the suutra 5 and We are backed up in the

postings since Shree Sundar who was providing the detailed correction

to insure compatibility of the transliteration of Sanskrit and also

glossary for the words, is currently busy and Smt. Geetha,

volunteered to take up the job and is going through the learning

curve. Shree Dennis Waite is closely working with us to sort out the

unfamiliar Sanskrit words. It has been real team effort in the past.

The notes are written in such a way that one can skip the Sankrit

words and still not miss anything pertaining to the discussion. By

the by Dennis Waite also has written a condensed version of the notes

on Adhyaasa without the Sanskrit words involved. These are also

available in the advaitin archives.

> Dear Dr. Sadananda,

>

> I have taken a preliminary look at your notes on the Brahma

>Sutras. Specifically, I have read the Introduction. However, it is

>not clear to me exactly what order the files follow in the website

>where they are contained. Of course, I can tell that some files

>follow others from the numbering of the chapters, but still I am not

>sure about the totality of files.

>

> Could you please provide a Table of Contents when you have a

>free moment? I think this would be most helpful to newcomers.

>

> Thank you
