Guest guest
Things have their nature. Trees are not cats. Trees cannot say "meow" unless the wind rustles through the leaves precisely in a certain way. Even then it is not quite convincing. Well, anyone can say "meow" once in a while. Mind has its own nature. Supermind has its own nature. All these states,...you can call them risings in consciousness, occurrences in the universe, or just things and conditions existing in emptiness. It does not matter. When you hear a lion roar, you will not mistake it for a dog's bark! Do you carry a mirror around just in case you forget your face? I would be grateful if you expand on that post a bit more and provide a more direct route to the point that is made. In the meanwhile, I would like to comment on the last sentence in that post viz when you said "Do you carry a mirror around just in case you forget your face?" I think the advaita says that face (which you see in the mirror) is not really YOU. Hence you do not need a mirror to know yourself and also to know that you exist. So, (as per my understanding), advaita is saying that whether it is a cat or a tree or a human, the same sound emanates out of them and any difference we see between a cat's "meow" and a tree's "meow" is our perception only. May be, you are making the same point. My apologies for not understanding your post fully. Regards Gummuluru Murthy ------

Regards Gummuluru Murthy ------ Namaste Sri Murthyji, We agree that no one needs to carry a mirror around to know one's own Self. That was the implied meaning of the last sentence as you rightly concluded. The post was meant more for someone like Zen master Sri Frankji than yourself. But I am glad that you found it interesting enough to comment on it. Respectfully Murthyji, as far as "Trees not being cats", I do not know if it can be clarified any further. At least, I am not qualified to do it. Perhaps trees are cats. Love Harsha
