Guest guest
One can experience the pain of others. Isn't it the pain of the universe that gave birth to the great prophets? At first all great prophets were just humans, they were one among the many. But they have seen the pain of others and they wanted to find an answer to it... The identification must have been so intensive in order for any prophet to search answers! To put it simply, one will not search answers unless they feel for it! No one will search for something which the others have lost, unless they feel for the others! The example of "Ocean and waves" from Bhawad Gita is best suited to understand this. A soul recognizing the pain of another soul, is nothing but a wave recognizing another wave... A wave, which is travelling in the darkness will not be able to recognize itself (if at all it is conscious), so where is the question of recognizing waves which are travelling towards the same shore, perhaps with different speed! Same way, a man who is in tamas (darkness) will not recognize himself, neither he will recognize others! A light called "True Knowledge" (vidya) is required, a knowledge about ones own self is the prerequisite to steer higher! "avidyaa mRUtyuM teertvA, vidyaA amRUtamaSnutE". They achieve immortality through true knowledge! In this world, recognizing every human as equal is the beginning... Once any person comes to such a recognizition then he will start feeling for others. He will feel sorry for others plight.... If not, why should Jesus help the people suffering from Leprasy? Why should Buddha save the Goat which was about to be sacrificed? Going deeper from such "all humans are just like me, everyone is equal" kind of recognizition, one will finally arrive at a conclusion (upon reaching the highest state of consciousness - nonduality) that all the waves are raising from the same ocean; they are made of the same water; they are imseperable from the ocean; in deed their essesence is ocean; and I AM OCEAN... I AM THAT through which all these souls are made of.... They are me, I am them... All is nothing but Brahman... Such a state of Consciousness is called "brAhmee Sthiti"... --- EshAM bhrAhmee sthitiH pArtHa nainaM prApya vimuhyatE! Such a state is called as the Highest state, one who reaches such a state will never get deluded again. Now about the mind reading: Who can be able to tell the origin of a wave? Only the ocean.... Who can be able to FEEL the Speed/Velocity through which the wave is travelling? Only the ocean... Question again: Who can be able to read the mind of a soul? A highet person (virATpurusha) who is the sumtotal of all souls.... Such a person will be able to feel... Respond or not to respond is up to him... It is his own decission, whether to respond or not to respond... The Sages who want to respond seek the Krishna Marga (the dark path), as described in Gita and come down, such a soul is called as "aatArya" (Krishna Yajurveda). A soul who returns back to the higest state after responding to the call of others is called as "aalAdya". Hari Om! I hope that helps.
