And what are Vedas ? Vedas is the knowledge that pertain to all aspects of life. Any and every issue that is related to life is within the scope of the Vedas. And to analyze a particular problem holistically and develop the best possible solution I see nothing that comes close to Vedanta and Yoga. Let me present my point of view related to current situation: Current issue that is creating unrest in the world : terrorism. What is the natural state of the world ? Harmony and peace, for these are the attributes of the Self (in its Saguna Brahma form). Fear, terror, insecurity etc. thus have got to be a byproduct of error in perception. Why are these negative events happening ? Because we have alienated the Self from some areas of world events. What is the remedy ? Let the Self (as Saguna Brahma) get in touch with these neglected areas. Once this contact (union)is achieved, Prakriti will sort out issues on her own. And what is preventing this contact/ union ? Inappropriate perception in our minds is the hurdle. And how to remove this hurdle ? ofcourse by correcting our perception. And how to correct perception ? By far the best technique is meditation. But meditation may not always be feasible or not all may be skilled in it. Is there anything else ? Something more commonplace ? Yes, and that is discussion. Even activities like following discussions broadcast on media, talking with friends about their points of views, reading articles presenting different points of views ultimately have the effect of clearing up our perception. As perception starts clearing, unkowingly we meditate. Unkowingly we establish a contact between the Saguna Brahma aspect of the Self and the problem at hand, and thus contribute to the solution of the issue. As usual my point is: Vedanta is not only about Adhyatma. It is about Vyavahara as well. Thus I feel that if some posting presents a well rounded analysis of the current situation, it should not be discouraged.
