Every actor takes his role very seriously - if not he cannot act properly. Acting is fun. But while acting, the actor never mistakes himself with the role he played. He may play as a king in one role and beggar in an another scene. He will not get confused and bring the role of king in the beggar scene and start ordering everybody. If he does we may have to take him to the mental hospital. But that is exactly what we do. When we do not act and we forget that we are actor playing the roles and take the role as real and make a mess of the whole action. Sitting in the office instead of acting the role of an employee we bring the previous role of husband, father or son etc and make a mess of the action. We we go home and we take the role of employee at the home and make another mess. If one acting there is no problem - It is absolute fun. One should act seriously Realizing it is only a play to act and not real! Only a stupid does not take life seriously Only an intelligent takes seriously life seriously. Only a wise seriously does not take life seriously - He only acts seriously. Hari OM! Sadananda -- K. Jnaneshwar, in his commentary on Gita says (I forget where exactly) 'A perfected yogi is almost indistinguishible from an ordinary person. He seems to take life very seriously. Only on a close observation can one tell the difference (between a perfected yogi and an ordinary person)'. As Sadananda-Ji rightly points out, a perfected yogi is only acting seriously. Guest guest
Namaste Sri Krishna: The world is neither a dream nor an illusion. All that we know is that it is complex just like the complex number. It contains a real part and also an imaginary part. Mathematicians beautifully laid down rules to deal with the complex number so that we are resolve all situations without anxiety and doubts. Those who do not know the rules become anxious, doubtful and confused. The Vedantins are great mathematicians and they have given us the rules of how to deal with this complex world: The world that we experience through our body, mind and intellect come out out of our own imaginations (imaginary or illusionary part). When we go beyond the world of experience of body, mind and intellect we reach the Paramarthika level of experience - where the experiencer and the experience become the one. With divine intelligence, it is possible to reach and experience the 'real' world. According to vedanta, if we master the 'Brahma Vidya' we can understand the rules of life to deal with the 'complex world.' warmest regards, Ram Chandran -- In advaitin, Krishna Prasad <rkrishp99> wrote: > Hari OM! In essence it is all we project upon it, so that one appears to enjoy whilst another appears distressed, both by the same world. It is one's "own" essential-nature which manifests the world, giving substance to the dream. As it is the individual who is dreaming, then all he perceives is himself, and acts and interacts with immunity (whether realised or not). Nevertheless, before one may TRULY and freely act, one must first know himself as actionless in essence, otherwise inaction is merely another action, made by choice by the individual who dreams that the world is a dream. It is impossible NOT to act if one is a body or form - action is form; form is action. Anxiety and seriousness is only a reaction from the individual's sense of being an absolute entity. Know oneself as the essential and divine consciousness, and then there is no acting even in action. Love and grace, ~ Janak.
