namaste the three participants in this discussion and other members,

I am writing this as one of the moderators. The other moderators

may express their views as well which may agree or differ from this

expression.

What the List policies are have been stated very clearly and

repeated the beginning of every month. It is the moderators'

wish to keep the List focused on its objective of discussing

advaita as taught by shri shankara. It is also the moderators'

wish and hope to view the List as a mature and serious List

where the members police themselves so that the List objectives

are met without the moderators intervening at every stage. The

moderators do not see a post before the post appears in the Forum,

except for the initial posts of new members.

Sometimes, for some reason or other, a member may violate the List

guidelines and post an article which is well outside the List

objectives. Such is the case with shri Hur Guler's post under

reference. The post appeared saturday at 10.35 p.m. I saw this

post sunday morning. I was going to write to him/her privately

but as long as there is no discussion of the subject in the

List, I thought I would ignore the violation of the List

guidelines treating it as an errant and one-time innocent

violation of the List guidelines.

For shri Viswanathan and shri Gasusima to impute partiality

to the moderators is a rather unfortunate charge. There is no

partiality. Any post (which the moderators consider) outside

the scope of the List will not be allowed. However, the

moderators do not wish to jump in at every violation and

keep on strict policing unless the member repeatedly violates

the guidelines. The members should exercise their judgement

whether the post is within the guidelines or not.

shri Hur Guler's original post is certainly outside the scope

of the List and I am contacting the member privately on this

matter.

Regards

Gummuluru Murthy
