Guest guest
Dear friends, I joined this learned group only yesterday. I have still not gone through the archives to see what discussion has taken place so far. But I got mail from many of the members as well as Sri.Ramachandran on various aspects of Advaitha. I have a lot to learn and am willing to do so. At this time I remember one story from JadaBharathopakhyana in Vishnu Purana , which I am giving below:- A class in Advaitha There was once a sage of yore, Who taught many disciples great. Advaitha, the phioloshy, Of the perennial wisdom of this earth. One day he told them all. "You and me and you and he, You and all the humans are one, You and the animals of this world, And all the plants on this earth are one, With our lord the God, Who is the only truth." Nodded the entire class their head, Back and forth many a time. Next day walked he, The brightest of his class. To his way to the Sage the great. And on his way, espied he, An elephant blocking his way. Moved he not from the road, And shouted at the top of his voice, "You and me elephant are one, The Lord the God, the ultimate truth." The mahout sitting on the elephant , Called to the foolish one , "Away from the road, you idiot, Else the Elephant will trample you to death." The disciple got hurt and bleeding, And rushed he to his master the sage. Told he in a voice sadly chocked, "Master, your lessons are all lies, The elephant, who is me, And Lord the God, the ultimate truth, Trampled me on the road." Master didn't loose his calm, And told his Disciple with peace, "Didn't the Mahout the God, Sitting on Elephant the God , tell you, To be away from the road."
