Quo Vadis?

Dear Friends,

I have been a silent asdmirer of the discussion that is going on in this

group.I am ofcourse little disillusioned because of my ignorance.

I always felt that Hindu Philosophy enshrined in the Vedanta(end of Vedas)

portion as well as Bhagavat Gita was exhorting all of us to search for the

ultimate and only truth in this world. As I understood four different major

paths were defined viz. Karma, Bhakthi, Gnana and Yoga.

The Karma Marga as exhorted by the Lord in Bhagavat Gita got corrupted by the

Karma Kandin orthodox group of the relegion, who wanted all of us to follow the

rituasls and customs defined in the Smrithis and Sutras of some Acharyas , who

were essentially not philosophers but Karma Kandins.

The Bhakthi , which preached for ecstacic belief in any God head you believed

and realising that you are one with what you believe also got corrupted due to

the rivalry of Sadhkas who told others that , the only method is to believe in

what they point out.

The Gnana Marga, which was possibly an exclusive domain and method for

intellectuals who are capable of searching for the ultimate truth and realising

that all of us are a part of this ultimate truth became very popular. But ,

majority of the so called followers of this path, felt that what they should do

is to hear and follow someone whom they think is the Gnani. But their teaching

was very difficult to follow and never enlightened one , because the path of

elimination or recognition was not followed by them.

The Raja Yoga required a teacher because it consisted of bodily excercises

and meditations to still the wandering mind and tie it to a firm peg. In the

modern times possibly more number of people are able to realise the oneness

using this method which hinges on the ultimate discipline.

I hope most of you will agree with me that the individuals who have really

realised the ulimate truth in this present day world are a hopeless minority and

need to be searched by the most powerful electron microscope. Most of us think

that we have understood but in reality possibly none.
