Guest guest
dear mr. ken i agree with u that most of our 'dharmik' books do not have index. Probably in ancient times they did not need it. These days as u have rightly said index has become a must.Keeping in mind this requirement i am building up an index on bhagavad gita. "http://in.geocities.com/gitabykrishna/index_index.html" you may kindly go through the same and let me know if some improvements are required. thanking u nkbali On Tue, 27 Nov 2001 ken knight wrote : > > > Namaste Sunder, > These books are excellently researched and I can > recommend them to anyone. Dear Mr Bali, I put your site in 'My Favourites' last week. I will have a look later today and come back to you with any more comments but I was delighted when I went to it last week as it is ideal for some Indian friends with whom i am studying the Gita at the moment. In those happy days when people learned texts by heart....I know that there are many that do today but unfortunately I was not one so trained in childhood.... indexes were not necessary. My main complaint is with modern authors who omit this simple addition to their book. I have recently been hosting the talks of Swami Bodhananda in the UK and he was a delight as he has the texts memorised and is a walking index to the Upanishads. The trouble is that he has returned to India, Om sri ram ken Knight GeoCities - quick and easy web site hosting, just $8.95/month. http://geocities./ps/info1

Namaste, Thank you for your work on this project which is of great value to my friends to whom I have recommended the site. I know that this must be simple to do but I was trying to enlarge the text while on line but could not find out how to do. Any help please? I am sure that the words to be indexed are many and I look forward to seeing which ones you add. I will make suggestions if you wish. It also occured to me while I was looking at your site that it would be a wonderful way of presenting the dhattus used in the Gita. I began such a 'hard copy' work some time ago but did not have the time to complete it. I could help by listing the dhattus and their verses for you and we could then extend that to include Panini's Dhatvartas. That would be an interesting project and may introduce some people to a way of study of the Gita with which they are not aware. Give it some thought, Ken Knight GeoCities - quick and easy web site hosting, just $8.95/month. http://geocities./ps/info1

Guest guest
Dear Mr Bali Are you checking the mails I am having with Sunder as he is suggesting some interesting sites. Although the dates of the concordances listed produce some odd translations of the Gita there is sufficient there for you to extract some more refs. Re. Dhatus I will come back to you over the next couple of days. > your idea of dhatus is also good Om Shanti Ken Knight GeoCities - quick and easy web site hosting, just $8.95/month. http://geocities./ps/info1
