Guest guest
om. honourable members please help. recently, i took membership of 'amway' which is a world-leader in multi-level-marketing. now, in this to do it successfully, i am required to talk a lot about money big dreams about comfortable life. is that bad? probably not if i do this with remembering all pervading god in the mind. but most of the time i miss on that part. please tell me what should i do? money is necessary for me. i have family to support. there are so many conflicts in the mind regarding this. can you please suggest how can i discuss money without compromising on addressing the atman of the person i am talking to? can this go in the background of mind? can someone please suggest how it can be made possible. if i do marketing of certain products like costly cosmetics etc. which i don't use myself then is it wrong. i am personally against to these things and would like to have simple life. if recommend these things to others purely for the business purpose then am i in a way putting an effort making them engaged in other things which will not help them spiritually? i think this a sin to have some belief and propose something else to people. this is a big problem at the moment. please help me. i am very tense. regards, gaurav goel GeoCities - quick and easy web site hosting, just $8.95/month. Guest guest
Dear gaurav Money is realy not a bad thing as is made out to be by some people. After all it is Laxmi maata whome we worship and who is very dear to Lord Himself. What is not good, however is the attatchment to it. It is the 'attatchment' which binds us and hence is some thing to be avoided. Secondly it is our ego which makes us think that we are earning the money. Actualy Laxmi belongs to Narayan only and if it comes to us it should be considered to be the property of Lord and we must consider our selves as the trustee of that. As long as it is earned without harming others, it is perfectly ok for a 'grahasthi' to pursue it. As per Gita u must do your duty and to support your family is the prime duty of a grahasthi. Earning money by selling some thing (cosmetics in this case), which makes others feel good, there is nothing objectionable about it as long as it is done honestly. Again since it is the God'property we should also use a portion of it for those who need it badly I think i have clarified the position as per what little i have read and understood. TO REAPEAT: Take heart. There is nothing which should make u tense, as long as u r not unduly attatched to it, earn it honestly and use part of it for helping others Lord Krishna advises Arjuna to fight and conquer the enemy and enjoy the affluent kingdom. Since it is his duty to fight. Guest guest
Make as much money as you can - fulfill your obligations to your family and to the society. The artha comes after dharma - artha and kaama are in between dharma and moksha. Hence earn with in dharma and spend to wards higher pursuits towards moksha. It is not the money that is the problem - It is the dependency or longing for more and more is the problem in that it takes the mind away from higher pursuits. Fulfill your obligations as service to God - as his Trustee. Hari Om!
