For the purpose of discussion I have a few questions: (1) GOD thought of becoming many.... (tadaiksshata bahuSYaM prajAyEyEti) but can such a thing be called as creation? (2) was that a thought or was that a desire? If it were a desire then there should be something in return to it (logically!). I think desire is something which expects something in return... isn't it? I desire to go to India *expecting* that I will be happy there.... I desire to become a billionnaire *expecting* that there is happyness in being rich... BUT what must have GOD expected in return in order to become many? When it is not a desire but just a mere *thought* then that would prove that creation never took place instead it is there as a Lila (logically...) All the characters I dream are a kind of thoughts but they are never physical. Obviously, I cant demand somebody to pay me back the money he borrowed from me in my yesterday night's dream... :-) I remain Yours, Madhava
Guest guest
I would like add some more points on this. "Desire arose in God to create". Is desire the right word to use? In VishnusahasranAma God is called "kAmi" meaning one whose all desires are satisfied. So when all the desires for God are satisfied, how can he have any desire. I think the word lila or nature to be more apt than desire. It is better to say, It is the nature of God to do such things as "Srusti, sThiThi, laya". And now the question is why does God has such nature? This boils down to the question How can the knower be known? To know the God nature we need to have grace of God and whole of Vedanta scripture tries to answer this question. sarvam vasudevamayam jagath Prashanth --- "Madhava K.
