Guest guest
Dear Learned Members of the Forum, I am trying to develop my understanding of Advaith by reading all the different likes and messages send by the learned members of the forum. I should say at first it makes me feel proud that there are so many people who know so much on this subject. I am honored to be a part and I take it as a blessing of Lord Ganapathi. I should say I know nothing given the vast knowledge presented by many a members which gives me a complex even to write this message. I decided to write more with a intention to interact and expose my ignorance and so learn. So if some of you find the mail to be a bit naive please forgive. I am learning all this but my logical thinking ( which I should say cannot perceive or come to the conclusion of the subject we are discussion, as a finite can never capture/understand/experience the infinite ) says I will not be able to have the experience of the infinite in this birth. This statement I fully understand contemplated on, is in philosophical terms a blunder !!. Also in this birth I am nor pure and am making and made a lot of since which by the nature of cause and effect will give me another birth with no certainty of being a one of human. This being the scenario what happens to my Advaitic learning if I am born as an animal and what happens to my advaitic learning if I am born as a human. Also given the current state of affairs in the world it has become easier to do mistakes than to be lead a reties life, if that be it will there be any consideration given by the Lord for at least the efforts put in trying to be good. Guest guest
Hari OM! Narayana Smrithis! Blessed Self, The Proof that You will not be taking another Brith itself is You have turned your attendtion to GOD. You have taken a "U" turn.. as our Poojya Gurudev Swami Chinmayanadaji says. The World is really a Dream... We have sticked our thinking in terms of doership and enjoyership. You can take millions of Births no harm... But only pray to HIM that the awarness and devotion to HIM the Supreme Lord, should be there in each and every Birth. We should have the discrimination. (Viveka)in(between the real and unreal nature) each birth we take. If You take One step towards the Lord... He takes 100 steps towards YOU! With Love & OM! Guest guest
Greetigs, There is story, Ones Sage Narada on his usual tour, visits Bhooloka ie earth. While roaming around Kashi he comes across a person. This person has been doing great tapas for many years. And as soon as he sees Narada he goes and does a pranam to Narada and asks him a question. Hello revered sir and triloka gyani, I have been doing this tapas for many years now, I have done all the things a person can do, I have done fasting for many days, I have been doing yaaga's, yagna's etc. But even after all these, I am still devoid of moksha, do you know by any chance when will I be free from this samsara? When will I get moksha? Hearing this question Narada thinks for a while and says, it will take you 100 more lives for you to get moksha. At this answer the person gets shocked and says 100 more lives!!!, how can it be? I cannot do any more, I am tired now itself and just goes off. So Narada smiles at this person and continues his journey. After a while Narada comes across one more person who is doing japa sitting under a big banyan tree. Narada goes towards him and as soon as Narada presence is felt, the person wakes up and makes pranam to Narada. Even this person has been doing tapas for many years and after talking for a while, he too poses the same question. Revered sir, do you know by any chance, when will I have the grace of God? Narada thinks for a while and says, you will get moksha only after 10000 lives. Hearing this, the person goes in to ecstatic mood, and says for 10000 more lives I will be able to serve God like this only. Revered Sir, I am blessed today, who will get a chance to serve God for 10000 more lives He becomes so happy that he starts dancing there itself by chanting the name of Lord Narayana. Narada, a great gyani by himself understands true bhakthi of this person and he too starts dancing by chanting the God name. And Narayana, who is watching all this from his abode, vaikunta, could not wait for any more and appears himself in front of these two great bhaktha's. Long back I had read this story, so I am not sure this is the right version. I request members who happen to be aware of this story to correct me if there is anything wrong. sarvam vasudevamayam jagath Prashanth --- Krishna Prasad <rkrishp99 wrote: > Hari OM! Guest guest
Shree Ranga, Greetings and happy for your active participation. Here is my understanding in response to the questions you posed. .. > >I am learning all this but my logical thinking ( which I should say >cannot perceive or come to the conclusion of the subject we are >discussion, as a finite can never capture/understand/experience the >infinite ) says I will not be able to have the experience of the >infinite in this birth. This statement I fully understand >contemplated on, is in philosophical terms a blunder !!. You are absolutely right - the finite cannot grasp the infinite. Hence one cannot comprehend the truth by the intellect - that is infact is what is said in Kenopanishad. - But that does not mean that that one cannot have the experience of the infinite. infact since there is nothing other than infinite, by definition, what one experiences all the time is nothing but the infinite. But there is no knowledge to support that exprience and one misinterprets that what one experiences is only the finite - names and forms. The wisdom comes with the realization what one experiences in all the names and forms is nothing but that substratum - in that wisdome the duality - experiencer-experienced-and experiencing all merge into one homogenious - sat chit ananda that I am. > >Also in this birth I am nor pure and am making and made a lot of >since which by the nature of cause and effect will give me another >birth with no certainty of being a one of human. Purity and impurity belong to the finite equipments- That I am inpure itself is a notion born out of identification with the finite. Cause-effects are within the realm of time and time itself is in my consciousnes. But as long as I feel I am finite, Bhagawaan says - at least practice yoga - with yoga the mind gets purified and one slowly drops the notions that one is finite to have any impurities. impurity is when there is something other than oneslef. But when one realizes that there is nothing other than oneself - where is the question of impurity and who has it? - Hence a upanishad sage addresses us - sR^invantu vishve amR^itasya putraaH! - Listen you all - the sons of immortality! - He refuses to call us as sinners. We are sons of immortality! what a beautiful way of addressing. Immortality is our birth right. > >This being the scenario what happens to my Advaitic learning if I am >born as an animal and what happens to my advaitic learning if I am >born as a human. Krishna answers to that very question in Ch. 6. Arjuna asks what happens to the yoga brashhTa - A vedantin or seeker who has not realized and dies. KrishNa says his efforts will never go waste. He will be born in a family or in an environment that is conducive to his rapid growth. In the universal law of causation nothing can go wrong. One can take a detour to overcome some obstacles on the path - but that only helps to regain the momentum to go forward even faster. Just like the river distined to reach her destination - the sea - small obstacles it jumps over - large obstacles it gracefully go around - but its goal is set- momentarily it may appear that it is going backwards - but that is only to overcome some obstacles. >Also given the current state of affairs in the world it has become >easier to do mistakes than to be lead a reties life, if that be it >will there be any consideration given by the Lord for at least the >efforts put in trying to be good. Yes you are right. One has to be vigilent - whether it is now or in Rama's time. When there are too many distractions that take mind away, it is important to withdraw - This is part of sadhana - shama, dama, uparati and titiiksha etc. Even to achieve anything in this world - one has to be persistent and goal oriented and make full effort to accomplish. When we are talking about the highest goal of the human life -how much determination and consistant effort is needed. Let us not worry about how big that task is - He is there to help us - If we take one step towards Him, He is ready to take 10 steps towards us. But every step we take counts. That is the promise of the Lord. Hari OM!
