Guest guest
namaskaram. Here is my understanding ... let me give you an analogy I have heard given by other gurus. - amaresh <agni Re:Advise of Sri Sadananda > The second confusion is regarding surrendering to my ishtadevata. > Again the problem is my undecisiveness. I am unable to decide on one. Consider the search for an ishta devata to be like the search for our most favourite food, something we can eat three times a day for the rest of our lives!! We cannot do it - we need all kinds of tastes, and more importantly all kinds of nutrition to keep our bodies fit and balanced. We cannot live with one type of food. So also in our search for our ishta devata. HE is the same, in what ever form we see Him. He sustains and nourishes us just the same, whether we see Him as Mother or Father or Child or Friend ... the important thing is to start seeing Him as a Friend or as a Guru etc. > So how can i remove my confusion? If anyone says that he or she says they follow only one ishta devataa, tell them they are not being faithfull to their ishta devata!! If they were, they would have done what Bringi maharishi did!! Here's the example of the maha rishi Bringi (I guess this story was also posted on the list a while ago). Bringi maharishi wanted to pray to Shiva and ONLY to Shiva. So when Bringi one day saw Him in the ardhanari form with half of His body being Gowri, Bringi maharishi through his tapas, split the body into two so that he could do pradakshiNam to only Shiva. Such was his single pointed devotion to his ishta devataa, to the exclusion of all others. Can any of us claim such devotion? Until then, we can, and indeed should, show reverential devotion to all His forms, so that we spend more time in remembering Him. bhava shankara desikame sharaNam Vaidya. _______ Get your free @ address at
