Dear Madhava,

In 1969 I left for India from the U.S., with one book in my

backpack, 'Nan Yar'(Who Am I) by Ramanna Maharshi. I went to Rammana

Ashram and spent 3 months devouring all of Rammanas books as well as

those of his desciples. I then spent the next two years as one of the

first western students of Swami Dayanada Sarasvati, and traveled

throught India with him studing Gita, and other works on Advaita

Vedanta. In 1972 I met Swami Satchidandanendra Sarasvati of

Holenarsapur,(whom I consider my real Guru) and stayed with him till

his Mahasamadhi in 1975. I am a sanskritist, and have spent the last

27 years studying, translating and giving talks around the world on

Shankara's Vedanta. I am merely a Vedantic scholar, and make no claims

to any Spiritual Realization of my own.
