We, devotees worship You with the service of our hands, the fruits of the action not touch us ! thirunIlakaNTam !! Notes: 1. When the young saint and the other devotees were pilgrimaging in kongu state (western tamilnadu), the accompanying devotees were severly affected by the cold viral fever. The loveful sambandhar sang this padhikam, praying to the Lord to save the devotees from calamities, because they have completely devoted their lives in the Lord's service and they have no refuge other than the God. By the Grace of God the fever of the devotees was cured and they continued their service. 2. This is a song of very deep meaning. It should not be misinterpretted. One has to undergo the effects of the actions he/she performs. This applies to all. But as per Shaivism apart from the three - doer, deed & fruit of the deed - there is a giver, which is the God who has the overall authority over the system. What sambandhar prays for is the case of the matured devotees who in a complete selfless mode "devoted" themselves to the Lord. This needs to be well understood. (The president of India has all the right quash the death order given by the court. But if one assumes that he is going to apply this to all, may end up in the gallows !) 3. This padhikam is sung for the betterment from viral sufferings, for relief from evil forces (pilli, suniyam) and for the betterment of younger brothers. (The complete padhikam is available through http://www.shaivism.org/pal.htm) ===== --------------------------- Visit Shaivism Home Page at http://www.shaivam.org --------------------------- I said I gave my body - became far off from guru's teachings I said I gave my mind - became far off from the linga I said I gave my wealth - became far off from the devotees There is nothing more disasterous than the disaster I got ito by saying "I did for You", kUDalasangamadEva ! - basavaNNa Great stuff seeking new owners in Auctions! http://auctions.
