Guest guest
Well said! Light! that is what has to be understood... Sri Ramakrishnaparamahamsa used to see this light. I think these days, I heard there are people who do commercial business in reading the light called Aura. But the Aura helps you in keeping in the good satsang of people. The moment someone comes infront of you, you can see from the light whether they are thinking good or bad, whether they are really serious in their spiritual approach or just to timepass! Sri Ramakrishnaparamahamsa used to get pained and could not stand in front of such people. Even the thoughts! Many people write many questions, but the thoughts behind them also pass some light (of knowledge) if those thoughts were not serious, one will never get an answer... It is a pain to live in the middle of people who think evil, who write evil; and in the middle of people who think evil but write sweet to deceive the world... Pain is inevitable as long as the siddhapurusha is breathing in his physical body. In research into the spiritual experiences of people who have had no background training (that they are aware of), light is a common feature. What is also common is the surprise these people express when they describe the changing quality of the light in the atmosphere , getting brighter and realising that they are the centre of that light; the sense of the small ego disappears and a new vision and knowledge arises that is familiar. I could quote many examples from the archives of the Alister Hardy Society here in the UK. Chapter 12 of Upadesha Sahasri deals with this in relation to the Tat tvam asi discussion. > The moment someone comes in front of you, you can see > from the light whether they > are thinking good or bad, whether they are really > serious in their spiritual > approach or just to timepass! Intention, tatparya, provides the context; neti neti dissolves the shadows cast by our intentions blocking the Light, prakasa. >Pain is inevitable as long as the > siddhapurusha is breathing in his > physical body. May I please give my own comment on 'pain'. Absolute, That One, desires to become many, desires to experience Itself through the many. (I do not want to get into a discussion here on how adhyasa and avidya arise.) Anything that blocks the realisation, the fulfilment of this impulse or vibration, must be dissolved. The agents of this process which occurs in the apparent world of duality are essentially the same but appear as opposites: pain of separation healed with love in union. Grace, anugraha, is a natural appearance in response to the original vibration. The apparent separation and re-union all take place in that One Light. For the last few weeks I have been visiting friends whose bodies are dying. With one friend, whose funeral I attend today, the last few weeks have been a delight to be with him as he was able to give up his claims and rest in his Self ( he was a Catholic Christian who practised meditation and would understood that expression although he held onto his dvaitin views). The increase in Light in his room over the weeks was obvious. The other friend is convinced that he is the 'Doer' and as the body can no longer fulfil his dream's demands (intentions), the manas has been going berserk running around looking for things to do. Fantasies about people being against him are rampant because of his characteristically critical nature. Nurses and visitors leave as soon as possible but the closer he gets in time to the moment of the body's death the quieter he is becoming. So, where is this pain? It has no place in the placeless and no path in the pathless. To paraphrase one of our other contributers, that is my 2p worth.
