There can be none in this world who can claim that he had not committed any sinful deed. Whether intentionally or unintentionally he ought to have erred at some stage of his life or indulged in an act prohibited by scriptures of codes of conduct. But the consequences of such acts can be wiped out, if not, at least mitigated, by following the steps prescribed in scriptures and further elucidated by saints and mystics. There have been several instances of God having ignored the sins of those who have sincerely sought His pardon. Some may presume that by remaining all alone behind closed doors, their activities may not have been noticed by anyone, but the Supreme Lord who is present everywhere, though unseen, will surely know about them. However, among the methods contained in the holy dictates to erase sins is the dip taken in sacred rivers. But devotion to Lord will remove even the wicked nature of man as seen in the incarnations of the Lord as Krishna, who brought back to life two celestials, who not only violated Divine instructions, but also displayed their impertinence before God's messenger. They were cursed to be mute trees till Krishna, as a child made them realise their mistake. Saints have revelled in expounding the esoteric import of several episodes in our sacred works like Krishna Leela Tharangini and Gita Govindam, which form an integral part of ancient Bhajan traditions and show how the Lord in human form extended His grace to those who had chosen to hold to His Feet. God is aware of all the happenings and perceives all things at the same time and controls all beings directing their movements. He knows how to help a man and when to rescue him, said Sri R. Aravamudhan in his discourse. While even as a child the work of destroying the evil was enacted, Krishna protected the erring souls, who stood as trees for their mistakes. Religious leaders, who in their outpourings had expressed their view that God can be bound by the chord of pure devotion, have enjoyed the Divine Child's pranks. Unable to bear the Divine Child's mischief, His foster-mother attempted to tie Him to a grinding stone, but found all the bits of ropes used for the purpose falling short by a few inches. Seeing her plight and out of mercy the Lord allowed Himself to be bound.
