Guest guest
Dear members, My name is Stig Lundgren. I´m 35 years old and I´m living in Stockholm, Sweden. I´m a PhD-student and teacher in the History of Ideas, Stockholm university. My thesis is about swedish 19th century philosophy and metaphysics as formulated by Carl Yngve Sahlin (professor in philosophy at Uppsala university, 1864-1894). As a teacher I have been lecturing primarly on the history of philosophy and science from the time of the pre-socratics (about 600 B.C.) to the 15th century. My interest in Indian religion, philosophy and culture started when I was about 17 years old. I got interested in meditation and joined a class here in Stockholm. About the same time I also became a vegetarian and I have been so ever since. During the last few years I have dedicated a considerable amount of my spare-time to traditional Indian religion and philosophy. I am most interested in the early Advaita Vedanta of Gaudapada, Shankara and Sureshvara. Among contemporary acharyas I am particularly attached to the teachings of Sri Sri Swami Satchidanandendra Saraswati (1880-1975), and I have read many of his books. And yes, I have noticed the ongoing debate on this list regarding mulavidya, absence of avidya in deep-sleep etc! I would be happy to enter the discussion soon. Very best wishes Stig Lundgren Note from Advaitin List Moderators: We Welcome you to the list and we look forward to your active participation.
