Guest guest
Namaste. I wonder if it is the same Jnanananda Bharati who wrote many books on the Sringeri Paramarcharyal Sri Chandrasekhara Bharati Swamigal?. Sri Jnanananda Bharati wrote books such as * Sparks from a Divine Anvil * Dialogues with the Guru (one of the first ever vedanta books I read. The dialogue on free will vs fate in this book is a classic) * The Saint of Sringeri I also saw that TattvaLoka magazine had published an article based on His other book "The Great Equation" (http://www.vidya.org/tattvaloka/english/default.htm) Here is the description of the book Sri Kamesh mentioned from http://www.tamilcinema.com/samata/page8.html: THE ESSENCE OF YOGAVAASISHTHA COMPILED BY SRI JNANANANDA BHARATI TRANSLATED BY SAMVID Yogavaasishtha or Yogavaasishtha Maharamayana is reputed to consist of 32,000 slokas. According to the late Sri Bhagavan Das, Pandit Vrndavana Sarasvata of Benares who passed away in the year 1905 had read through this great work 165 times "and the work consists of 64,000 lines" i.e. 32,000 slokas. However, the printed editions consist of nearly 28,000 slokas. The complete edition is perhaps available in private collections. It is not easy to condense such a great book of Vedanta, often referred to in appreciative terms, by Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and other sages and scholars. There is an abridgement known as Laghu Yogavasishtha consisting of 6000 slokas. Sri Vasishthasangraha which forms the text of this publication is a condensation of the original in 1698 slokas. Sri Swami Jnanananda Bharathi who made this compilation, maintaining the continuity and retaining the flow of the teaching, should have read the Yogavasishtha several times and mastered it, as a perusal of the work will show. THE ESSENCE OF YOGAVAASISHTHA, the fifth book in the Samata Series of Spirirutal Classics, meets the felt need of many seekers of knowledge in India and abroad. The language of the text as of other scriptural texts in Sanskrit is as simple as the thought is subtle and inspiring. Demy 8vo xxvi + 334 pp. Hard cover Price $ 20/- 5th reprint 1998 Sanskrit Text with English Translation advaitin, "kamesh" <kamesh@c...> wrote: > Dear All, > > I visited the Book Shop of Sri Ramakrishna Math, Mylapore, Chennai,India. > > There was a book on Yoga vasistha by Sri Jnananda Bharthi Mahaswaminah. The book costs around Rs.300/- and its is published by Samata books, Chennai 600 018, Tamilnadu , India > > Those who are interesed can buy the book or order it thru the Internet.... > > Same way The Ramana Ashram has released a Multimedia CD on Bhagavan Ramana Maharishi.. please go to the website > ww.ramana-maharishi.org for details > > jayatu jayatu nityam chandrachudoh gururnah....... > > Kamesh B > > > >

R Sankar
Dear Mr. Kamesh, My name is R Sankar, grandson of Sri. R Krishnaswamy Iyer (Poorvashrama name of Sri. Jnanananda Bharathi Swaminah). You may go thro' the website of Gnanananda Bharathi to know more about Sri. Gnanananda Bharathi Swaminah. My father, Sri. K Ramachandran, son of Sri. R Krishnaswamy Iyer, was the legal heir and copy right owner of all the workings of Sri. R Krishnaswamy Iyer (a) Sri. Jnanananda Bharathi Swaminah. Now, we have formed a Trust in the name of Gnanananda Bharathi Grantha Prakasana Samithi to renovate the adhistam (Samathi) of Sri. Jnanananda Bharathi Swaminah and to reprint some of his books and the copy rights are rests with the Trust. I am surprised that Yoga Vashishta has been reprinted and is being sold by you (as per your mail, the cost is $ 20) without our knowledge. Though we have no objection in reprinting the books of Sri. Jnanananda Bharathi Swaminah, we expect a basic courtesy from the people, who reprints, to keep us informed and take a written approval from us to avoid any duplication and litigation later on. Pls treat this as personal letter and send us your reply to my mail ID Regards R Sankar guest said: Namaste, it is the same Sri Jnananda Bharathi Mahaswaminah who wrote Books on Sri Chandrasekara Bharathi mahaswaminah..
