Guest guest
Dear Friends, Vanakkam and Namaste to all. Hindusim acknowledges via the Gita that there are several avenues open to humankind in reaching the Paramatma. Surely we should not plan to fail by enslaving our minds through the theme of one book, one philosophy as a panacea when Bhagwan has given us several choices? If the ancient rishis had thought that one book is sufficient, we will not be having the rich inheritence that we have today in the abundance of vedantic knowledge. The nature of universe is such that there is constant flux and constant equilibrium amidst constant change. That universal order can be disturbed only at great peril by fixations. Our Hindu tradition has always welcome even revolutionaries in thinking such as Shankara. Let us keep it that way. Happy new year to all. Respectfully, Sathia, KL, Malaysia. ========================= Note from List Moderators: Namaste Sri Sathia, Happy new year, We do agree that Hinduism recognizes and respects many avenues in reaching Paramatma. That is why we have millions of gods, traditions and worshiping patterns. But at the same time everyone of us is tuned to our own convictions and beliefs. Those who joined this egroup have their conviction on Advaita Vedanta philosophy synthesized by Adi Shankara. It is quite possible that this philosophy may have its shortcomings and the members are quite aware but have the spiritual maturity to accept the philosophy even though others still may have doubts. Fortunately, there are over thousand email lists that discuss various aspects of Hinduism and members with varied interests join according to their preference. This is quite reasonable because we have limited time and resources and each list focuses one important aspect so that like minded people could exchange their view points and enhance their understanding. If all the thousands of lists are combined into one, each one of us will be receiving about 10,000 or more emails per day! That is impratical. The Hindu temples spread across the nations of the universe and each temple focuses mostly on one or at the most few deities. No one has ever built a temple with all the millions of gods worshipped by Hindus and the reason is simple and does not need further explanations. We are all pressed for time and members rightly feel that their mailboxes are filled with large volumes of articles with little relevance to their belief and conviction. Some of the objections from the members should be understood with proper perpectives. We know that members of this list are open minded but at the same time they do not want to join discussing materials that they are not familiar with. We hope that you understand our difficulty, =========================================== "Dr. K. This negative reaction is quite puzzling especially in view of what has been stated as the policy of this group viz. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>...
