Guest guest
>From a talk by Vivekananda. This tendency in religion is most harmful. A man gets a new and better idea. and then he looks back on those he has given up, and forthwith decides that they were mischievous and unnecessary. He never thinks that, however crude they may appear from his present point of view, they were very useful to him, that they were necessary for him to reach his present state, and that everyone of us has to grow in a similar fashion, living first on crude ideas, taking benefit from them, and then arriving at a higher standard. With the oldest theories, therefore, the Advaita is friendly. Dualism and all systems that had preceded it are accepted by the Advaita not in a patronizing way, but with the conviction that they are true manifestations of the same truth, and that they all lead to the same conclusions as the Advaita has reached. Commentary:- This acceptance of all phases of spiritual development is the trademark of the broad hearted teachings of Sri Ramakrishna. Oh, very nice. This reminds me of how Maharishi Mahesh Yogi has said that: Knowledge is structured in Consciousness. and Knowledge is different in different states of Consciousness. Guest guest
tbw61 raised the following question: I am fairly new to these topics.I am wondering if anyone would kindly direct me to any place on the internet which would have a good description of the difference between the advaita position of Ramana Maharishi and Aurobindo and the Dvaita philosophy expounded here in the US by the ISKCON and other Bhakti yoga devotees - Dear tbw61, May I draw your attention to six web pages of mine starting from: http://www.geocities.com/profvk/gohitvip/71.html The first one talks about the non-absolutist schools (which are the schools other than the advaita school). The second page ( .../72.html) dwells on the Adavita school and the message of one-ness. The third one ( .../73.html ) deals with the topic: Vision of Equanimity and Practical Non-duality The fourth one ( ..74.html) treats the question of the differences among the different schools and is titled: Difference and Non-difference. The fifth one (... 75.html) is on Descent of Grace, and is applicable to all the schools. The sixth one ( http://www.geocities.com/profvk/TheSelf.html) is a special one on The Self as per the advaita school and is in a chart form. PraNAms to all advaitins profvk ===== Prof. V.
