She heard about His being. Later she heard of His ArUr (abode). Now she became mad of Him. She gave up mother and father that day itself. Left the manners of the world. Forgot herself, forgot her name too ! The lady headed only to the Feet of the Head !! Notes: 1. It is a song in which each of the lines need to be meditated upon to enjoy its ripe sweetness. It is a poem that beautifully depicts the stages of maturity in the love for the Supreme from its conception to consummation. This is a song in "agaththuRai". Remember the days when the mother folds our tender hands and says, "salute umAchchi". As we grow we also need to grow in devotion like this girl to finally head only towards the Supreme. Our life would be in the path of fulfillment then. (There are philosophical explanations to this song, but as this is a song appearing very simple in language but shows deep meanings to those who meditate on it, it is not dealt with here.) 2. pichchi - mad; aththan - father; agaliDaththAr - people of (broad) world. ===== --------------------------- Visit Shaivism Home Page at http://www.shaivam.org --------------------------- - Official partner of 2002 FIFA World Cup http://fifaworldcup.
