thiruchchiRRambalam

Meaning:

Am the slave of all who bow down as devotees.

Am slave of the slaves of those who sing only the

Supreme.

Am slave of those who kept their mind/intellect

completely with civa.

Am slave to all born at thiruvArUr.

Am slave to those who touch the Holy Form all three

times.

Am slave to the sages who wear fully holy ash.

Am slave to the slaves of the ones beyond - who leaned

towards the Feet (of God).

ArUran (I), am devoted to the beloved Lord of ArUr.

Notes:

1. The devotee groups referred here are

1) Devotees, 2) God singers, 3) Who fixed their mind

on God, 4) born at thiruvArUr, 5) shivAchAryas (those

who touch and worship the shivalingam three times a

day) 6) ash smeared seekers, 7) All the devotees who

live(d) beyond in terms of time, geography etc etc.

2. It would not be just to state in short sentances

the context of this song, for giving which song the

splendid cundharar came to this world, as cekkizar

puts. http://www.shaivam.org/nachund2.html has some

brief of that. When the whole periya purANam is

nothing but the expansion of this padhikam, what else

needs to be said about its glory ?!

3. While cundharar mentioned some of the great

devotees - ancestors & contemporaries - he also did

not forget to tell his humbleness to the devotees of

various kinds. This beautifully covers all the other

devotees whose names did not get explicit mention.

"appAlum aDichchArn^dhAr aDiyArkkum aDiyEn"

marvelously sums up the vision and great humbleness of

this saint.

4. The complete thiruth thoNDath thogai is available

at http://www.shaivam.org/nathokai.html The life

history of the great devotees mentioned in this

padhikam following periya purANam could be found at

http://www.shaivam.org/naayan_f.html
